When it comes to negotiating deals for union employees there is no one better than the industry that started it all in Flint, Michigan, the auto workers. While the efforts from the sit down strike made historic changes for those in the auto industry. Yet benefits such as profit sharing may not be as beneficial as some workers may have thought since they are getting smaller profit sharing checks than they thought.
Michigan’s ‘Big Three’ auto makers have had their struggles over the last few years, and this year is not shaping up to be one of the best for Ford, Stellantis, or even General Motors.
Why Are Used Cars So Expensive?
There has been a significant drop in the sales of new vehicles due to rising costs of production in tandem with inflation. The used car market is also struggling because of a lack of inventory. People coming out of leases don’t want to spend the money on newer vehicles so they end up keeping their vehicles which limits the inventory on used car lots. That adversely affects the price of used cars due to supply and demand.
How are New Car Sales?
A report that was updated just this month shows that GM has the top spot with vehicle sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles with a 17.4% share of the market with Ford ranked at number three with 12.2%. But the competition is taking the top 10 over from the so-called big three.
While Stellantis barely made the top five, literally coming in at number five disappointing members of the profit-sharing program, other automakers like Toyota at #2 and Honda at #4 both definitely have a strong following.
