This news comes from a new Microsoft security update. The company has been banking on AI technology heavily over the past couple of years, and it’s been making some great strides. It wants to help with the cybersecurity issue, and it looks like it’s calling its buddy Copilot to do so.
Microsoft launches Security Copilot Agents

Microsoft just launched some AI agents that will help automate some tasks and assist in areas like phishing, data security, and identity management. The company launched a handful of agents to help. Six of them will assist with Microsoft’s own e2e security platform. We’re sure that it will launch more agents as time goes on.
Microsoft has also launched a batch of five AI agents for its security teams worldwide. So, there’s no doubt that Microsoft wants Copilot to be a major part of its cybersecurity efforts.
Potential risks
This seems like it could be a good idea to help boost cybersecurity across Microsoft. The company has been dealing with some major data leaks and hacks over the past couple of years, and we know that hackers aren’t going to let up.
However, we need to acknowledge that AI technology isn’t perfect yet. While it’s generally accurate depending on the scenario, there’s always the chance of there being hallucinations. That’s not so bad if you’re talking about generating a short story or an essay, but when you’re talking about cybersecurity the stakes are much higher.
Not only that but there will be a level of autonomy with these agents. This means that Microsoft will be trusting some tasks with them fully. Let’s hope that they don’t experience any issues down the road.
