Missouri Dept. of Transportation seeking input for two transportation plans – Missourinet.com

The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking public input for two of its transportation plans. Eric Schroeter, Deputy Director and Chief Engineer for MoDOT, said the agency wants feedback about its Long-Range Transportation Plan.

“It makes sure that we’re…as we’re developing projects, that we’re moving them in the direction that Missouri wants us to go,” Schroeter told Missourinet. “In the past, they’ve told us things like, ‘we want to make sure it’s safe. We want to make sure it supports our economy and the links to all of it.’ You know, they also tell us, ‘we want to make sure we’re taking care of the system we have.’”

MoDOT is also seeking public feedback on its State Freight and Rail Plan.

“We have the second and third largest rail yards in the nation in Missouri, but all the railroads in Missouri are privately owned. The state doesn’t own or operate any of the rail system. We work with all the private owners of those rail systems,” Schroeter said. “So, this is a chance to coordinate a plan looking at what’s our freight (going to) look like in the future.”

The Freight and Rail Plan also includes semi traffic, along with Missouri’s river ports and barge traffic. Both surveys can be found here.
