Monster camera alert: Vivo X200 Ultra's gigantic camera module shown

Summary: The Vivo X200 Ultra just appeared in real-life images with a truly gigantic camera module. That module is not only large in terms of diameter, but it’s also very thick. This is a prototype of the phone, allegedly, but it could be a real deal. A known tipster also published a sketch of the phone’s back side, which does go hand-in-hand with this prototype. The Vivo X200 Ultra is expected to launch next month.

We expected a large camera module on the back of the Vivo X200 Ultra, but this is beyond expectations. The Vivo X200 Ultra surfaced in live images with a truly gigantic camera module on the back.

You can check out the images in the gallery below. This is allegedly a prototype of the device, though, so keep that in mind. The final product could look identical to this, or at least very close to it.

The thing is, the camera module design does go hand-in-hand with a sketch Digital Chat Station published on Weibo (image below). At least as far as each camera placement is concerned within that camera module.

The phone is expected to offer three great, large camera sensors on the back

Yes, this camera module is very thick, but there’s a good reason. The Vivo X200 Ultra will allegedly utilize two large camera modules. It is tipped to use the same camera for the main and ultrawide snappers, the Sony LYT-818. In addition to that, the ISOCELL HP9 camera sensor from Samsung will be used for a periscope telephoto camera.

In other words, we’ll get two 50-megapixel camera sensors that are 1/1.28-inch sensors. The periscope telephoto camera is a 200-megapixel 1/1.4-inch sensor, in case you were wondering.

Honestly, we though that Vivo could pack them in a slightly thinner camera module. The Vivo X200 Pro has one Sony LYT-818 sensor and the ISOCELL HP9, plus a third smaller sensor, and its camera module is way thinner.

April launch is expected

Either way, some people will definitely complain if this prototype ends up being the real deal, though people always complain, so… it is what it is. Based on what we’ve seen from the Vivo X200 Pro, the Vivo X200 Ultra will offer outstanding camera performance. It’s expected to launch in April.
