PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va (WSET) — London-based electric car manufacturer RBW EV Cars is set to open their first U.S facility in the Danville-Pittsylvania County area and they are adding a Danville native and NASCAR veteran to the team.
RBW EV Cars announced on Thursday that they hired Peyton Sellers, two-time national champion of NASCAR’S Late Model Stock Car Series, as their director of U.S. operations.
The new facility will produce the company’s first left-hand drive RBW EV Roadster and GT models for the U.S. market. The project will create 144 new jobs.
Danville’s Office of Economic Development and RBW’s CEO Peter Swain reached out to Sellers about eight months ago with the opportunity. He said after seeing the passion they had for their brand and product, he knew this was something he wanted to be a part of.

“I saw the quality in them,” Sellers said. “I saw how they were doing things over in the UK and it was top notch. It was very nice built cars. They were doing it the right way. They weren’t trying to rush through. They’re not trying to grow too fast, but they need to be able to assemble their cars in the U.S. to be more efficient and productive.”
Sellers will be responsible with getting the assembly line set up, getting the factory up and running, and getting the cars distributed where they need to go.
“It’s a huge opportunity for me to be able to come in and get these guts adjusted, get adapted to US life and build cars,” Sellers said. “And for me, I’ve got a goal to do for them. I’ve got a mission and that’s to build cars effectively and most effective way possible and help them build their brand. So, we’ve got work to do and I’m looking forward to it.”
“In addition to his passion for racing, Peyton has been assembling vehicles for many years,” RBW EV Cars wrote in a press release. “This includes custom builds for business clients across the U.S. as well as large scale production assembly at his own company. Peyton’s knowledge of automotive assembly, including his local business and government relationships were key to RBW’s international expansion into southern Virginia.”
The new U.S. RBW facility will be located at Cane Creek Industrial Park in Ringgold. They plan to be open for production in January.
