New Hampshire man arrested for driving wrong-way in snowstorm, hitting cars – fox23maine.com

NORTHFIELD, New Hampshire (WGME) — A New Hampshire man is accused of driving at least 12 miles the wrong way on a highway in a snowstorm and damaging three vehicles. Police say he did it all while under the influence.

New Hampshire State Police got reports of a pickup truck going north in the southbound lanes of I-93 in Concord on Thursday afternoon.

A trooper saw the blue pickup truck going the wrong way, but the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Matthew Burt of Concord, New Hampshire, refused to stop.

According to police, troopers were eventually able box Burt and deploy a tire deflation device. Three of the truck’s tires were deflated as a result, and the pickup finally stopped.

Burt was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence (DUI), two counts of felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, two counts of conduct after an accident, disobeying an officer, reckless operation, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Troopers say Burt traveled at least 12 miles in the wrong direction on I-93 and caused damage to three vehicles during the incident.

The drivers of the other vehicles struck by Burt were evaluated on the scene by emergency medical services as a precaution, according to police.

Burt was taken to the Merrimack County Jail.
