:: The New York International Auto Show is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year

:: Mark Schienberg, President, New York International Auto Show

“The New York Auto Show really got things started for the auto industry back in 1900 at the old Madison Square Garden. We had 69 different vehicle manufacturers represented in that first show, which is more manufacturers than we actually have today. “

:: The show’s president says the event highlights an evolving auto industry with ‘something for everybody’

“Electrification is still somewhat new, or connectivity, self-driving, obviously there’s lots of things that are going on. But the show has just about something for everybody, and that’s the beauty of the show, if you’re into hyper cars or sports cars, performance vehicles, if you’re looking for SUVs, family fun vehicles. I think the auto industry has really gone about taking a look at the customer base that’s out there and really has evolved into offering products that everybody’s looking for.”

Schienberg reflected on the show’s evolution alongside the industry, which began with steam, electric, and gas-powered vehicles.

Asked about the latest trends drawing attention this year, Schienberg noted, “Electrification is still somewhat new, or connectivity, self-driving.”

The 2025 New York International Auto Show opens to the public at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on Friday (April 18) and runs through April 27.
