No Man's Sky gets enhanced PS5 Pro version and cross-save

No Man’s Sky has come a very long way since its first days of launch alongside the PS4 era, and now it’s making the jump to PS5 Pro with a new enhanced version of the game that supports PS5 Pro-specific features.

Hello Games announced new details and features coming to its massive space game this week, adding yet another slew of improvements and content to the game for free. Over the years, No Man’s Sky developers have continued to build out the game with free content drop after free content drop. Adding new game modes and ships, new planets, co-op gameplay, and much, much more. All without charging players a dime.

It’s a rarity in this day and age. An era of gaming where even AAA PC and console titles are laden with microtransactions and paid DLCs. Hello Games has gone a very different route. Despite many players begging Hello Games to let them pay for content so much that it’s become a meme at this point.

Well, this week players will have one more reason to plead with the devs to take their money.

No Man’s Sky will support enhanced PS5 Pro features

If you’re one of the lucky new owners of a PS5 Pro, or you will be soon, and you play No Man’s Sky, you’re in for a treat. The game will support Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Because of this singular feature support, the game can run at 60 frames per second in 4K resolution. You won’t have to compromise and choose either performance or quality mode.

In addition to that, the graphical quality has been “improved across the board” Hello Games says, while also adding improved lighting and better reflections. The game will be an “early supporter” of 8K resolution at 30 frames per second as well. These improvements will be supported on the PS VR2 headset for those who would rather play the game in VR. And if that’s you, we get it. No Man’s Sky in VR is an incredible experience you can’t really find elsewhere.

Cross-save support is finally here

Every game that’s available across multiple platforms should have cross-save. Sadly, that isn’t the case for many games even to this day. Luckily, No Man’s Sky can now be counted as one of the games that supports this wonderful feature. Hello Games also confirms that cross-save will be available on all platforms where the game is available. So that means you can start playing on something like the PS5, then hop onto the ROG Ally X and play your saved content from the PS5 on the go.

You could then even swap from the ROG Ally X to the Nintendo Switch and continue there if you desire. Hello Games says that adding cross-save was “a huge undertaking,” but it was also one of the most requested features. Cross-save is being rolled out from today across all platforms.
