Northwood holds 61st annual International Auto Show – WNEM

MIDLAND, Mich. (WNEM) – Tens of thousands of people were in Midland this weekend as hundreds of vehicles filled the Northwood University campus for the annual auto show.

“This is the 61st International Auto Show Fest. Look, Northwood University hosts the largest outdoor new car auto show across the country,” said Northwood University President Kent MacDonald.

Donated vehicles from high-end cars like Corvettes, Ferraris, and Bentleys to American-made muscle and older cars were on display.

The entire show is organized by the students at Northwood, which staff said will prepare them for the future.

“We believe that we’re going to turn the keys over to the students so the procure the vehicles, set up security, food services, tickets, transportation. So, fundamentally, it’s a learning opportunity on top of that because Northwood is America’s automotive university,” MacDonald said.

There were also food trucks, sporting events, and an opportunity to meet with Northwood’s student volunteers.

The event will continue Saturday, Oct. 5. The auto show is free and open to the public.
