NVIDIA teases an RTX 50-series GPU with dual front fans

The NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPUs have been leaked yet again (possibly?) only this time they were teased by NVIDIA officially. While there’s nothing absolutely conclusive about this latest leak, all signs seem to be pointing toward an updated design for the RTX 50-series. NVIDIA is suspected to be showing off its latest GPUs at the same time as the upcoming CES event happening next week.

While this hasn’t been confirmed by NVIDIA, several leaks over the past month or two suggest this will be the case. Back in December, an Australian retailer leaked a stock/pricing list for an ASUS RTX 5080 GPU. If the retailer did indeed have this information correct and the cards were on their way, then it stands to reason that NVIDIA is likely to announce soon.

Then as recently as this week, an image of the packing for an MSI RTX 5080 GPU was leaked. Packing that looked quite finalized. Adding more evidence to the rumor that NVIDIA is getting ready to announce. Now NVIDIA seems to have intentionally teased the card during a trailer for its GeForce LAN 50 event. The event happens next week as well.

NVIDIA has seemingly teased the RTX 50-series Founders GPUs

What’s interesting about NVIDIA’s teaser trailer for the GeForce LAN 50 event is that the GPU isn’t really in full view. Now the trailer itself is just about the event, and not about NVIDIA’s new GPU hardware. Most of the trailer is announcing a stream event that will last 50 hours. Those who tune in have a chance to win some sweet rewards. Some of those will be hardware items, others will be digital goods for specific games like World of Warcraft, and others.

At the end of the trailer, however, NVIDIA shows off a shadowy image of a PC. All you can really make out is that it’s a large tower with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU inside. However, both The Verge and VideoCardz have used imaging software to brighten the image. That makes it easier to see the outline of the GPU a little more. The image quality is still rather fuzzy, but as VideoCardz points out, you can make out that the GPU seems to be using a new design.

It reportedly has dual front fans and an LED light strip. It’s also mentioned that the power connector is angled with the design being unusual. While being unlike the cards from the currently available 40-series. It’s not a ton of detail but then again, NVIDIA is very likely to reveal these cards in full in just a few days. So it probably won’t be long before the designs are much more visible.

The car shown may be the GeForce RTX 5080 or RTX 5070 Ti

One last observation worth mentioning is that this probably isn’t the GeForce RTX 5090. According to VideoCardz, the size of the GPU is what suggests this. The RTX 4090 for example was a huge GPU, and the RTX 5090 is likely to be just as huge. So what’s being shown here could be the RTX 5080 Founders or the RTX 5070 Ti Founders. It certainly has a similar boxy shape with rounded corners to current Founders GPUs. So that’s something, I guess. Whatever this GPU is, we may learn more about it next week.
