MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – The Ohio Department of Transportation held an open house at the Marietta Armory about its proposed plan for the Logistics Lane Project.
The Logistics Lane Project is targeted towards a section on State Route 7 between Belpre and Marietta.
The intersection of Veto Road and the Northern End of Blue Knob Road has a history of crashes with injuries and fatalities.
Fixing this intersection will allow for a safer commute, eliminate flood impacts, and eliminate major delays.
“We are seeing a pattern of crashes in this section, so that’s really the biggest driver of this project, and the project aims to improve safety and reduce crashes. Number one. Also, we have been studying this section, and what we’re seeing is there’s going to be an increase in traffic in the coming years, specifically truck traffic. So with the current configuration, it’s just not going to be able to hold that extra capacity. We’re going to have issues in the future if we don’t make improvements in this section due to the increased traffic.” said Ashley Rittenhouse, ODOT District 10, Public Information Officer.
ODOT will be taking public comments on the project for the next 30 days. You can submit yours here.
The project is set to begin in 2028.
