Del Boy and Rodney Trotter used it to carry their poorly-made goods to market.

With its yellow finishing’s and Trotters Independent Trading text on the side, the Reliant Regal is hard to miss.

It is believed to be one of six Reliant’s used in the sitcom.

After the vehicle made its last appearance in the 2003 Christmas special episode Sleepless in Peckham, there was no longer any use for it.

Instead, late BBC presenter Johns Mansfield, took in the Reliant. After 20 years it was put up for auction.

The Reliant was sold for £8,000 more than its asking price at the Classic Car Auctions of Ashbourne, in Warwickshire, on September 28.

It was accompanied by various other props from the show.

The other props included a roof rack, market suitcase, fluffy dice, plus an inflatable doll stored in the back.

It is understood a private collector sold the vehicle for a whopping £26,000.

A Classic Car Auctions spokesperson told The Sun: “The van was used for two series which included the famous chandelier scene.

“The little van must rank alongside Inspector Morse’s Jaguar Mk2 and Jim Bergerac’s Triumph Roadster as one of the most readily recognised vehicles on British television.”

Little-known car brand to launch in UK with first EV coming to rival BMW

Recently, the vehicle was recommissioned, with a new set of tyres and an overhaul of the brakes and fuel system.

Originally built in 1972, it comes with 97,000 miles on the clock and boasts a frightening top speed of 55 mph.

The Reliant Regal was built from 1952 to 1973 by the Reliant Motor Company as a replacement for the popular Reliant Regent three-wheeled cycle-car van.

With its lightweight body, under UK law it could be driven on a full class (class A) motorcycle licence as its considered a “tricycle”.

Feeling like a trip down memory lane? The Only Fools and Horses‘ West End musical, directed by Caroline Jay Ranger will be touring the UK from September 30 to July 5, 2025, as reported by the Express.
