Rumors have been circulating that the OPPO Find N5 will become the thinnest foldable smartphone, and the company’s CEO just confirmed it. Pete Lau said as much on Weibo while confirming the phone’s launch timeframe.
The OPPO Find N5 will become the world’s thinnest foldable, coming next month
Pete Lau flat out said that the OPPO Find N5 will become the thinnest while confirming its launch timeframe, and sharing the first official image of the device too. You’ll see it below.
As you can see, the phone’s extremely thin profile is being touted here. The device sits behind a regular pencil, and it’s thinner than the pencil. This is its unfolded form, though, so keep that in mind.
It will be thinner than the HONOR Magic V3
We know that a regular pencil measures around 7mm in regards to thickness, and the phone does seem to be notably thinner than that. The HONOR Magic V3 is 4.4mm thick when unfolded, and the OPPO Find N5 will seemingly push the ante even further. It could be around 4mm thick.
The OPPO Find N5 will also likely be thinner when folded, than HONOR’s handset, of course. THe HONOR Magic V3 measures 9.2-9.3mm when folded, just to give you some reference.
These teasers will likely continue as we’re getting closer to the launch event. So, OPPO could even share some exact thickness details before the device itself becomes official.
Do note that this teaser did come from Pete Lau’s Weibo profile, so it’s a teaser for the Chinese market. The thing is, the OPPO Find N3’s global model followed the Chinese one, it launched soon after.
The OnePlus Open 2 will likely be a rebranded version of this phone
There’s also the OnePlus Open 2 to consider. The OnePlus Open was identical to the OPPO Find N5, and it was meant to be sold in more markets globally. So the OnePlus Open 2 will likely arrive as a rebranded OPPO Find N5.
Considering that February is mentioned, it’s possible that OPPO and OnePlus plan to make their announcements at MWC 2025 in Barcelona for global markets, at least one of the two companies.
