OPPO Find N5 confirmed to offer 50W wireless charging

The world’s thinnest foldable, the OPPO Find N5, will support 50W wireless charging. That’s something that the company’s exec just confirmed. The information comes from Zhou Yibao, the OPPO Find chief.

The OPPO Find N5 has been confirmed to offer 50W wireless charging

He shared the information on Weibo, while showing the device actually charging at 50W. We can only see the phone from the front when folded here, and it does resemble the OPPO Find N3 from that perspective.

OPPO Find N5 wireless charging

As a reminder, the OPPO Find N3 did not offer wireless charging at all. So despite the fact the OPPO Find N5 will become the world’s thinnest foldable phone, it will also support fast wireless charging.

OPPO managed to achieve that by using an ultra-thin, custom charging coil that is only 0.18mm thick. The standard one is 0.3mm thick, so… this is a notable change that allowed OPPO to slim things down even further.

The phone could also pack in a much bigger battery than its predecessor

The company still did not reveal the size of the battery that the phone will offer. However, a 5,700mAh battery was mentioned in rumors, so… that’s the battery pack OPPO could use. That’s a much bigger battery than the one in the OPPO Find N3. That phone includes a 4,805mAh battery.

OPPO already shared some teaser images of the OPPO Find N5, mostly teasing its thinness. It was also confirmed that the phone will offer IPX8 and IPX9 certification. That basically means it will offer the best water resistance out of any foldable.

The OPPO Find N5 will trump the HONOR Magic V3 in terms of thinness, as OPPO said it will become the thinnest foldable out there. That is a remarkable feat. The OnePlus Open 2 could use the OPPO Find N5 design to a tee. The OnePlus Open was just a rebranded OPPO Find N3.

The OPPO Find N5 will become official next month, though we still don’t know the exact date.
