OPPO’s upcoming foldable, the Find N5, looks more and more appealing by the day. We’re constantly getting teased with something new. In the latest piece of news, OPPO’s CEO, Pete Lau, has basically confirmed that the OPPO Find N5 will outshine the competition in terms of water resistance… completely.
The OPPO Find N5 is looking to outshine the competition with its water resistance
Pete Lau went to X to confirm that the OPPO Find N5 will be IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 certified. This was kind of already confirmed by the OPPO Find chief last month, on Weibo, but it now comes directly from Pete Lau, and is aimed at global consumers.
The company’s CEO also shared an image of the phone being sprayed with water jets, which is a part of its IPX9 and IPX6 rating endurance. IPX9 rating requires a product to be able to withstand water jet sprays with high temperature and pressure.
IPX8, in case you’re unaware, means that the phone can be submerged in fresh water for up to 30 minutes under specific conditions… and up to 1.5 meters.
IPX6 rating, on its own, means that a device must be able to endure a minimum of three minutes of powerful jets spraying at least 100 liters of water per minute all over it. The OPPO Find N5 went through all those tests and earned itself all three certifications.
It will become the thinnest foldable in the world
This smartphone is also going to become the thinnest foldable in the world. It will trump even the HONOR Magic V3 in that regard, in the book-style foldables ring.
The device has already surfaced in real-life images, while some teasers were shared by OPPO itself. The device will get a wired charging boost, while it will also support 50W wireless charging. As a reminder, its predecessor did not offer wireless charging at all.
The OPPO Find N5 is also said to offer a telemacro camera, and it’s coming later this month. OPPO confirmed yesterday that it’s coming in “two weeks”, so later this month. If that confirmation was exactly two weeks, then it means that the launch event will take place on February 20.
