There’s always that one device that debuts a new chipset and sets a new standard for performance. This time, it’s the OPPO Find X8 Series launching globally with ColorOS 15 and MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400 System on Chip.
The Dimensity 9400 processor is designed with a second-generation “All Big Core” architecture, including an ultra-fast Cortex-X925 core and high-performance cores that push speeds 35% faster in single-core and 28% faster in multi-core tasks compared to MediaTek’s previous product.
Dimensity 9400 promises strong performance on Oppo’s phones
OPPO’s upcoming Find X8 Series will be the first phones worldwide to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chip. This chip is built with a new “All Big Core” design, combining powerful cores for faster performance, intense game handling, and heavy video editing.
Both phones will officially debut on November 21 at their global launch event taking place in Indonesia. Oppo’s Find series releases have excluded Europe since the Find X5’s launch in 2022. There were even rumors back in 2023 that they were exiting the market.
Of course, Oppo said the gossip was untrue. However, the Find X8 Pro model is the first of the series’ flagship products to debut in the region in two years.
“For many years, OPPO and MediaTek have worked together with the same mission: to continuously explore and lead the development of new technologies. The Dimensity 9400 is a game-changing chipset, with its second-generation All Big Core design delivering class-leading power and incredible performance. We can’t wait for more people to experience it in OPPO Find X8 and Find X8 Pro.”
Dr. Yenchi Lee, General Manager of Wireless Communications Business Unit, MediaTek.
The Dimensity 9400 chip will have one super-fast core (Cortex-X925) that runs at 3.62GHz, along with three mid-level cores (Cortex-X4) and four energy-efficient cores (Cortex-A720). While infused in the Find X8 phones, it brings 35% more speed in handling single tasks and 28% more speed in multitasking.
In gaming, the chip provides graphics that are 40% faster at creating realistic effects compared to the previous version. It also boosts overall gaming performance by 41% and uses 44% less power, so you can play for longer without worrying about battery life. With OPPO’s cooling system, the phone can handle demanding games while maintaining high frame rates even at the highest settings.
Major boosts in AI, camera, and connectivity
The Find X8 Series uses MediaTek’s 8th Generation NPU (Neural Processing Unit), which takes the phone’s AI performance to greater heights. It’s 80% faster at handling complex AI tasks, and it’s 35% more power-efficient.
You’ll see these features playing out in different areas, including texting. When you use Google Messages, Magic Compose suggests replies for you. These replies are not only smart but also match the mood or style of the conversation. You can get replies that sound “excited,” “formal,” or even “like Shakespeare.”
You also have the luxury of an advanced camera setup that combines MediaTek’s Imagiq 1090 Image Signal Processor with the Hasselblad Master Camera System and HyperTone Image Engine. The phones’ cameras are better at zooming, taking photos in low light, and recording high-quality videos with clear details, among other capabilities.
You’ll even save power, using 14% less energy while shooting 4K video at 60fps for long periods. The Find X8 Series also uses OPPO’s AI LinkBoost technology combined with the Dimensity 9400 chip to improve connectivity. You’ll have a stronger, more stable connection for anything you do online, even in crowded places.
The phones also have an upgraded Wi-Fi feature, the MediaTek Xtra Range 3.0. It provides up to 30 meters more coverage, so you can stay connected from farther away without interruptions.
