OPPO will unveil 'Lumo' imaging brand ahead of its flagship phone

Summary: OPPO has announced that a ‘Lumo’ imaging brand will be announced ahead of its new flagship phone. The launch event is scheduled for tomorrow (April 2) evening in China, as it will kick off at 7:30 local time. Lumo will be focused on portrait photography and aims to excel in low-light portrait photography.

OPPO has confirmed that a ‘Lumo’ imaging brand is coming tomorrow, April 2. As a reminder, the OPPO Find X8s, Find X8s+, and Find X8 Ultra are all launching on April 10. So, this new imaging branding will be announced a bit earlier.

The OPPO Lumo imaging brand will seemingly launch tomorrow

This new brand will be announced at the OPPO 2025 Imaging Technology Event. It will take place on April 2 at 7:30 PM China time / 1:30 PM CET / 12:30 PM BST / 7:30 AM EST / 4:30 AM PST.

OPPO said that this brand will be focused on portrait shots and that it will leverage advanced optical design and computational capabilities of the company’s upcoming devices.

OPPO’s Chief Product Offer, Liu Zhou, went to social media to say that Lumo is designed specifically for portrait photography. He also said that it aims to offer the very best mobile imaging system for capturing people.

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra is the first phone expected to support Lumo

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra is said to be the very first phone to offer Lumo. Lumo’s features include a new ultra-light-sensitive optical system, Danyan original color lenses, and ProXDR technology for accurate color rendering.

OPPO already shared some OPPO Find X8 Ultra camera samples, as the company tried to prove how it excels in low light. OPPO did put focus on portrait photography in low light, and decided to shame the iPhone 16 Pro Max while at it.

Considering that this announcement comes on April 1, we do advise caution. However, there seems to be nothing wrong here. OPPO has been teasing great low-light portrait photography for a while now, and this fits. It’s far from an obvious joke, in fact, it doesn’t look like a joke at all. We’ll find out tomorrow, but the announcement seems legit, perfectly normal.
