Pedestrian killed on Route 460 after being struck by multiple cars – WSET


Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that took place Saturday evening on Route 460 in Campbell County.

The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. A 2013 Chevy Suburban was going east when it reached the intersection with Scotts Farm Road, where it was unable to avoid hitting a person wearing dark-colored clothing who was crossing the eastbound lanes.

The pedestrian was then hit by a Toyota Tacoma and a GMC Canyon.

The victim, identified as 68-year-old Aniela Kowalczyk, of Campbell County, died at the scene.

None of the drivers were injured during the crash, and all of them remained on the scene.

There was no crosswalk in the area where Kowalczyk was walking.

The crash is still under investigation.

VSP said there was a second fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Campbell County just before 10 p.m. Saturday. All we know so far about that one is that it happened on Route 501 near the intersection with Phelps Creek Road. We will update once we have more details.
