Xiaomi 14 Ultra (Amazon)
OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Design
Both of these smartphones are made out of aluminum and glass. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also comes in a version with a titanium frame, and a vegan leather backplate, but those models are reserved for China. The two phones actually have a similar frame around the device. It’s mostly flat but curved towards the edges. They both also have quad micro-curved displays and proportionally curved glass on the back.
Do note that this does not mean their display is curved, though. The display is flat, but the glass on top of it is curved on all sides, just a little bit towards the edges. You’ll also notice that there is a display camera hole on both phones, and it’s centered up top. A camera oreo sits on the back of both phones, and it has a similar placement. The one on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra does protrude a bit more on the back. Both camera modules have four cameras on the inside, more on that later.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro has its power/lock, volume rocker, and camera shutter keys on the right side. On the left, its alert slider is located. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra only has the standard power/lock and volume rocker buttons, and they’re placed on the right side. You’ll find an IR blaster at the top of both smartphones, by the way. The OPPO Find X8 Pro is slightly taller, wider, and thinner than the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, it also has a slightly larger display, but it weighs less.
Both smartphones are quite slippery, and both are water and dust-resistant. The OPPO Find X8 Pro comes with an IP68 and IP69 rating, while the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance. These two devices feel really well built, that’s for sure, they feel premium in the hand.
OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Display
The OPPO Find X8 Pro features a 6.78-inch 2780 x 1264 LTPO AMOLED display. That panel is flat, and it can project up to 1 billion colors. It has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), and Dolby Vision is supported. HDR10+ content is also supported here, while the display goes up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 90%, while the Gorilla Glass 7i protects this panel.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, on the flip side, has a 6.73-inch 3200 x 1440 LTPO AMOLED display. That display is also flat, and it offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). Dolby Vision is supported here, and the peak brightness goes up to 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 90% too, but a little lower than on the Find X8 Pro. The display aspect ratio is 20:9, while Xiaomi uses the Xiaomi Shield Glass on the front.
There’s really not much to complain about when it comes to both of these displays. They’re vivid, very sharp, and get immensely bright when you need them too. The blacks are also deep, and the viewing angles are excellent. You’ll also be getting great touch support too. They both also support high-frequency PWM dimming, so if you’re sensitive to flickering, you should be good to go. You’ll essentially be good to go with either one of these two displays.
OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Performance
The OPPO Find X8 Pro is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor. That is the company’s new 3nm chip and the most powerful it has to offer. The phone also comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, on the flip side, includes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. That is Qualcomm’s 4nm chip, and it comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM too, with UFS 4.0 flash storage. Do note that neither one of these two phones supports expandable storage, though.
The performance both of these phones offer when it comes to regular day-to-day use is outstanding. They’re both immensely fluid. That goes for basically anything you do with them, ranging from messaging and emailing to browsing and image/video editing. They both also handle multitasking like nobody’s business. The OPPO Find X8 Pro is technically more powerful, but you wouldn’t be able to tell based on regular use. Both of these phones are very powerful.
In terms of gaming, well, you won’t have issues with either one of them. They both pack in plenty of power for gaming and even though they do get a bit warm when you’re gaming, we never had any issues with them getting too hot or anything like that. The heat never really affected the gameplay either, not at all. That even goes for the most demanding games you’ll find in the Google Play Store.
OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Battery
The OPPO Find X8 Pro packs in a 5,910mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes with a 5,000mAh battery. In China, it packs in a 5,300mAh unit. OPPO’s flagship has a silicon-carbon battery on the inside, which is how OPPO managed to pack in so much capacity in this shell. Yes, they both offer really good battery life, but the Xiaomi 14 Ultra cannot compete with the OPPO Find X8 Pro in that regard.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro is in a class of its own in terms of battery life. We actually managed to squeeze out over 12 hours of screen-on-time from the phone during our recent visit to Bali, on a single charge. Those conditions were far from ideal too. While the Xiaomi 14 Ultra can go the distance too, it cannot match this, not even close. Both phones will easily cater to power users, though. Your mileage may, of course, vary.
When it comes to charging, they’re both really well-equipped. The OPPO Find X8 Pro supports 80W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra supports 90W wired, 80W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. These two smartphones also come with chargers in the retail box, so you won’t be forced to go hunting for one after you buy a phone.
OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Cameras
Both of these phones not only have four cameras on the back, but both utilize four 50-megapixel units. The OPPO Find X8 Pro includes a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.4-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.75-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3x optical zoom, 1/1.95-inch sensor), and a second 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (6x optical zoom, 1/2.51-inch sensor).
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, on the other hand, has a 50-megapixel main camera (1-inch sensor, f/1.6-f/4.0 variable aperture), a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.51-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel telephoto camera (3.2x optical zoom, 1/2.51-inch sensor), and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (5x optical zoom, 1/2.51-inch sensor). This phone also has a TOF 3D depth sensor on the back.
OPPO’s cameras are backed by Hasselblad, while the Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes with Leica’s lenses. Both of these smartphones are immensely capable in the camera department and are some of the best camera smartphones on the market at the moment. The thing is, they do offer different photography styles, even though they’re both trying to be as close to real life as possible. Depending on the mode you choose on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, you’ll either get a bit more vibrant images, or images with more vignetting on the sides and slightly less vivid colors.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro does have the advantage of having a faster shutter speed, that’s for sure. Both phones do an amazing job during the day, though we did prefer the Find X8 Pro shots a bit more. In low light, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra does a fantastic job, and even though the Find X8 Pro does compete, it’s a tossup, it all depends on the scene. Their ultrawide cameras are really good, and on par, while both phones cover the zoom aspects really well. We did prefer the high-zoom shots from the Find X8 Pro, though.
Audio
Stereo speakers are included on both of these smartphones. The ones on the Find X8 Pro are technically slightly louder, but the difference is so negligible that you won’t even notice. The sound output is really good from both sets, actually.
There is no audio jack on either one of these two smartphones. You can, however, connect your wired headphones to both of them thanks to their Type-C ports. Alternatively, Bluetooth 5.4 is on offer on both phones.
