OPPO Find X8 vs Apple iPhone 16 Plus: Design
Both of these smartphones are made out of aluminum and glass. They both have flat sides all around, with slightly rounded edges for comfort’s sake. Their displays and backplates are also flat. The OPPO Find X8 features a centered display camera hole, while the iPhone 16 Plus has a pill-shaped cutout on the front, which is also centered up top. The bezels around the displays on both phones are thin, though the ones on the OPPO Find X8 are slightly thinner. They’re uniform on both phones.
On the right-hand side of the OPPO Find X8, you’ll find a power/lock button, along with volume rocker keys, and a camera shutter key. The alert slider sits on the left. The Apple iPhone 16 Plus, on the flip side, has a power/lock key on the right side, along with a ‘Camera Control’ key. On the left, the volume up and down buttons are located, along with an Action Button which sits further up on the left side.
Their camera modules on the back are quite different. The OPPO Find X8 has a circular camera oreo, which is centered in the upper portion of the device. There are three cameras located in there. The iPhone 16 Plus has two cameras on the back, which are vertically aligned in the top-left corner. Both companies also include their logos on the back, though the placement is different.
The OPPO Find X8 has a slightly smaller display, and the phone is a bit shorter and narrower in comparison. The two phones are basically the same in terms of thickness, while the Find X8 is 6 grams lighter. The OPPO Find X8 is IP68 and IP69 certified, while the iPhone 16 Plus comes with an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. Both devices are quite slippery in the hand, by the way.
OPPO Find X8 vs Apple iPhone 16 Plus: Display
The OPPO Find X8 features a 6.59-inch 2760 x 1256 AMOLED display. That panel is flat, and it can project up to 1 billion colors. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate and comes with Dolby Vision support. HDR10+ content is also supported here, while the peak brightness of this panel is at 4,500 nits. The screen-to-body ratio here is around 90%, while the Gorilla Glass 7i protects this panel. Ultra HDR image support is also a part of the package.
The iPhone 16 Plus, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch 2796 x 1290 Super Retina XDR OLED display. That panel supports HDR10 content, and it’s flat. The refresh rate here is 60Hz, so a high refresh rate is not supported. Dolby Vision support is included, however, and the peak brightness is 2,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 88%, while the Ceramic Shield Glass protects this display.
Both of these displays are very good, they’re vivid, have great viewing angles, and they’re more than sharp enough. The blacks are also quite deep on both, but the Find X8 has several advantages. It offers a high refresh rate, unlike the iPhone 16 Plus’ panel. On top of that, the Find X8 Pro’s display does get brighter when needed, not to mention that it supports high-frequency PWM dimming to protect your eyes.
OPPO Find X8 vs Apple iPhone 16 Plus: Performance
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC fuels the OPPO Find X8. That is a 3nm processor, and one of the most powerful ones out there OPPO also included up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM here, along with UFS 4.0 flash storage. The iPhone 16 Plus is fueled by the Apple A18 SoC, also a 3nm processor. The phone also includes 8GB of RAM and NVMe flash storage. Neither device supports storage expansion.
The performance both of these smartphones offer is outstanding. They’re very snappy when it comes to day-to-day performance. Everything ranging from opening apps and emailing to multimedia consumption and heavy multitasking is very smooth on both smartphones. Getting them to stutter even a bit is a real chore, actually. So you don’t have to worry about that, at all, and chances are it will stay that way for quite some time.
In regards to gaming, well, the story is kind of similar. Both smartphones can run the most demanding games available in their respective app stores. Neither phone got too hot during our testing, not at all. They did get quite warm during prolonged Genshin Impact sessions, but nothing you should be worried about. They were never too hot to handle, nor did we have to stop gaming to get them to cool off. No worries here.
OPPO Find X8 vs Apple iPhone 16 Plus: Battery
The OPPO Find X8 features a 5,630mAh battery on the inside, while the iPhone 16 Plus has a 4,674mAh battery. Apple’s handsets usually have smaller battery packs than their Android counterparts, so that, on its own, is nothing to worry about. Is the battery life any good on these two phones, though? Well, yes, it’s outstanding on both of them, actually, and not something you should worry about.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro does offer a better battery than the vanilla model, but this one is nothing to scoff at. Getting up there, over 7 hours of screen-on-time is easily possible. The iPhone 16 Plus does go above and beyond that, however. The iPhone 16 Plus is actually one of the best smartphones in terms of battery life out there at the moment. It goes considerably above what the Find X8 provides, and both offer great battery life, so that’s saying something.
In terms of charging, the OPPO Find X8 simply outclasses the iPhone 16 Plus. It supports 80W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The iPhone 16 Plus is limited to around 30W wired, 25W MagSafe wireless, 15W Qi2 wireless, 7.5W Qi wireless, and 4.5W reverse wired charging. The Find X8 charges faster in every way, basically, and it also comes with a charger in the box, unlike the iPhone 16 Plus.
OPPO Find X8 vs Apple iPhone 16 Plus: Cameras
There are three 50-megapixel cameras included on the back of the OPPO Find X8. The main 50-megapixel camera (1/1.56-inch sensor size) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (120-degree FoV, 1/2.75-inch sensor size), and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3x optical zoom, 1/1.95-inch sensor size). The iPhone 16 Plus, on the flip side, has a 48-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor size), and a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (120-degree FoV).
So, the two phones have the same main camera sensor sizes, but different sensors. Do they do a good job with photos? Well, yes, actually, both are more than good enough. The images they provide are vivid and sharp, and both phones do a great job with dynamic range. We did prefer the color tuning the Find X8 provided, while we also preferred shots from that phone in general. The iPhone 16 Plus does lean more towards warmer tones, and it does a good job, but the colors and the dynamic range are not on the same level as the OPPO Find X8.
Ultrawide cameras on both smartphones do a good job of keeping up with the colors and general image tunning. Both smartphones also did a good job in low light, though not on the same level as their ‘Pro’ counterparts. In regards to telephoto shots, the OPPO Find X8 easily wins here, as the iPhone 16 Plus doesn’t even have a telephoto camera, let alone a periscope telephoto one. The Find X8 offers 3x optical zoom, by the way.
Audio
There are stereo speakers included on both of these smartphones. The speakers on both smartphones are quite good, but the ones on the Find X8 are not only louder, but do a better job with high-end spectrum.
There is no audio jack on either one of these two phones. Both of them do have a Type-C port which you can use to connect your wired headphones. If you prefer wireless audio, Bluetooth 5.4 is on offer from the Find X8, while the iPhone 16 Plus supports Bluetooth 5.3.
