Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Vivo X200 Pro: Design
Design-wise, these two phones actually do have plenty in common. They’re both made out of metal and glass, though the Xiaomi 14 Ultra also comes in a variant with leather on the back. In fact, both of its globally available models have eco-leather on the back, not glass. There is also a variant of the phone with a titanium frame, but that one is sold only in China. Globally, both phones offer aluminum.
Both of these devices also have a flat frame all around, and that’s not where similarities end. You’ll also find a quad micro-curved display on both smartphones. Their backplates are proportional to the glass on the front, actually. Both smartphones are rather comfortable to use, though do keep in mind that the eco-leather Xiaomi 14 Ultra model does offer far more grip. Glass models are very slippery.
There is a display camera hole located at the top of both displays, and it’s centered. The bezels are very thin on both phones, and they’re also uniform. The power/lock and volume up and down buttons sit on the rigth-hand side of both phones nad have a similar placement. There is also a camera oreo on the back of both smartphones, though the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has one extra camera on the inside. Both camera modules do protrude quite a bit.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is slightly shorter and narrower than the Vivo X200 Pro, while it’s also thicker and depending on the variant either lighter or heavier. Xiaomi’s handset does have a slightly larger display, so the size difference is to be expected. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is IP68 certified, while the Vivo X200 Pro comes with both IP68 and IP69K certifications.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Vivo X200 Pro: Display
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a 6.73-inch 3200 x 1440 LTPO AMOLED display. That panel is flat, with a quad-curved glass on top. It has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and Dolby Vision is also supported here. This display supports HDR10+ content as well, while its peak brightness is 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 89%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. The Xiaomi Shield Glass protects this display.
The Vivo X200 Pro, on the other hand, features a 6.78-inch 2800 x 1260 LTPO AMOLED display. That panel is also flat with a quad-curved glass on top. It offers an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and it can project up to 1 billion colors. HDR10+ content is supported, as is Dolby Vision. The peak brightness here is 4,500 nits, while the screen-to-body ratio is at around 90%. The display aspect ratio is 20:9, while the Armor Glass protects this display.
Both of these panels are outstanding. They’re both sharp and vivid, while the viewing angles are also great. Both displays also get very bright when needed, so there’s no issue there. The blacks are deep too, while both panels do offer high-frequency PWM dimming as well, in case your eyes are sensitive. The touch response is also great on both displays. You simply cannot go wrong here.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Vivo X200 Pro: Performance
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. That was Qualcomm’s flagship chip until the Snapdragon 8 Elite landed. It’s still an outstanding processor, though. That phone also comes with up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The Vivo X200 Pro is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor, which is MediaTek’s best chip at the moment. The phone is also equipped with up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage.
The Vivo X200 Pro is technically a more powerful smartphone in terms of performance. The thing is, you won’t notice that while you’re using the devices. They’re both immensely smooth in their operation. Regular, everyday use is buttery smooth on both. That is the case even when you turn up the heat and do some intense multitasking, video processing, or something else of the sort.
What I said above applies to gaming as well. You can run pretty much any game from the Google Play Store on these two phones without a problem, unless the game itself has issues, of course. They have more than enough power to do that, and even though they do get warm, heat was not an issue for us, on either smartphone. You will only feel it with more graphically-intensive titles.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Vivo X200 Pro: Battery
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery globally, and a 5,300mAh unit in China. We used the global model, so keep that in mind. The Vivo X200 Pro, on the flip side, has a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery on the inside. While the Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers really good battery life, it cannot compare to the Vivo X200 Pro. Vivo’s new flagship did a better job both in our battery drain test and in actual use.
The Vivo X200 Pro could last considerably longer than the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in our battery drain test. We’ve also noticed a difference during actual use. In our use, the Vivo X200 Pro offered 30-35% better battery life than the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Getting over 7 hours of screen-on-time is not a problem with either phone, but the Vivo X200 Pro goes above and beyond that. Getting over 10 hours of screen-on-time was not a problem for us. Your mileage may vary, of course, there are a lot of variables to consider here.
When it comes to charging, both phones are really well equipped. Both of them support 90W wired charging. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra did charge a bit faster for us, but both charged immensely fast. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also supports 80W wireless charging, which is notably faster than the Vivo X200 Pro’s 30W wireless charging. Xiaomi’s flagship comes with 10W reverse wireless charging too, compared with Vivo’s reverse wired charging. Both smartphones also include chargers in their retail boxes.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Vivo X200 Pro: Cameras
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is equipped with four 50-megapixel cameras. The main 50-megapixel unit utilizes a 1-inch type sensor and f/1.6-f/4.0 variable aperture. There is also a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (122-degree FoV, 1/2.51-inch camera sensor) and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera (1/2.51-inch sensor, 3.2x optical zoom). The fourth camera on the back is a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/2.51-inch sensor, 5x optical zoom).
The Vivo X200 Pro, on the other hand, has three cameras on the back. A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.28-inch sensor) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/2.76-inch sensor, 119-degree FoV). The third camera on the back is a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/1.4-inch camera sensor, 3.7x optical zoom). Xiaomi’s handset includes Leica lenses, while the VIvo X200 Pro comes with ZEISS optics.
These two smartphones are some of the best camera smartphones of the year and amongst the best smartphones in general. The images they provide do look different, though. The closest you can get is using the vivid option on both, though. The Leica Authentic and ZEISS Natural settings are something else entirely. With ‘Vivid’ options, both smartphones do a great job. They provide sharp images that produce really well-balanced colors and perform great in HDR conditions too. The same goes for low light, actually, as both can capture outstanding images when the light goes away.
One thing worth noting is that the Vivo X200 Pro was slightly more consistent for us, in terms of balancing out images, and its (periscope) telephoto camera performed better in comparison to what the Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers. That’s not surprising, though, considering that we’re looking at a much larger sensor here. All in all, both smartphones are great in regards to camera performance.
Audio
There are stereo speakers included inside both of these phones. The ones inside the Vivo X200 Pro are slightly louder, but they’re in the same league in terms of loudness. The audio quality coming from both is great, actually. No complaints there.
What you will not find on either phone is an audio jack. You can use their Type-C ports for wired audio connections, however, without a problem. Both smartphones also support Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless connectivity.
