POCO F7 Ultra delivers flagship power without breaking bank

Summary: POCO has announced the F7 Ultra and F7 Pro handsets. These are the company’s new high-end smartphones, and their price tags are great. The POCO F7 Ultra is the flagship model, and comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, plus a great set of specs. Despite all that, its pricing starts at only $649. It is even cheaper now thanks to early bird pricing.

The POCO F7 Ultra has arrived, and we already have our review to offer you, as we’ve been using the phone for quite some time now. In any case, the company announced not only the ‘Ultra’ model, but the POCO F7 Pro too.

Both of these phones are quite compelling. The ‘Ultra’ is the more powerful model, and the one that most of you will likely be interested in. It offers great specs, and the price tag is not all that high.

The POCO F7 Ultra & F7 Pro look almost identical

First and foremost, the design. These two phones look almost the same, there are some tiny differences only. They have a flat display with a centered display camera hole up top. The bezels are thin, and POCO used the quad micro-curved approach here both for the display and the backplate. The display is flat, but the glass on top if curved on all four sides.

The sides of these phones are flat all around, while there is a round camera island on the back, in the top-left corner. It has three cameras on the inside, while the POCO logo is placed at the very bottom of the backplate.

The ‘Ultra’ model has the advantage in the SoC, camera, battery, and charging sections

When it comes to specs, there are some differences. The POCO F7 Pro has a different display protection, processor, cameras, battery, and charging. The rest of the specs are the same. So, let’s talk about them.

There is a 6.67-inch 3200 x 1440 AMOLED display on both of these phones. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 2,160Hz instant touch sampling rate. The peak brightness is 3,200, in theory. HDR10+ is supported, as is Dolby Vision. The POCO F7 Ultra is protected by the POCO Shield Glass, while the POCO F7 Pro uses Gorilla Glass 7i.

The POCO F7 Ultra is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the most powerful chip from Qualcomm. The ‘Pro’ model uses its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

POCO used LPDDR5X RAM & UFS 4.1 flash storage here

Both of these smartphones come in 12GB and 16GB LPDDR5X RAM variants, with 256GB and 512GB of UFS 4.1 flash storage. They both also feature two SIM card slots (2x nano SIM). Android 15 is pre-installed on both with Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0.

You will also find an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in the display, along with an IR blaster up top. Both phones are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, and they both offer stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support.

The POCO F7 Ultra has a 5,300mAh battery and supports 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. The POCO F7 Pro has a 6,000mAh battery and supports 90W wired charging only.

They both have a very compelling main camera

The POCO F7 Ultra features a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.55-inch sensor size, Light Fusion 800 sensor, f/1.6 aperture, OIS+ EIS), a 32-megapixel ultrawide camera (120-degree FoV), and a 50-megapixel floating telephoto camera (2.5x optical zoom, 10cm macro).

The POCO F7 Pro, on the other hand, has two cameras on the back. The main camera is the same as on the ‘Ultra’ model, while the secondary camera is an 8-megapixel ultrwaide unit (120-degree FoV).

They also have different selfie cameras. The ‘Ultra’ model includes a 32-megapixel unit, while the ‘Pro’ has a 20-megapixel selfie camera. They measure 160.26 x 74.95 x 8.39mm, and weigh 212 grams.

The prices are outstanding for what you’re getting here

The POCO F7 Ultra comes in POCO Yellow and Black colors. Its pricing starts at $649, and goes up to $699. Early bird pricing of $599 and $649 is available, though.
