PowerA celebrates Pac-Man 45th with new Switch and Xbox accessories

PowerA announced its next gaming collaboration this week, and it’ll be a collection of Pac-Man accessories to celebrate the iconic franchise’s 45th anniversary. Over four decades ago, Pac-Man wakka wakka’d into our hearts and never left, spawning a wide variety of games that began as arcade cabinets in Japan in the 1980s, eventually making its way onto home consoles like the Atari 2600 and beyond. The rest is history.

Soon, you’ll be able to own a piece of that history in a new form – as accessories for the Xbox and Nintendo Switch. PowerA will be releasing a controller for both platforms, although it’s unclear if these controllers will be wired, wireless, or both. PowerA has launched numerous collaborations with different franchises and offers both wired and wireless versions, though not necessarily for every single controller. The company hasn’t shared much in the way of details. As of yet, there’s no word on cost. There are also no full pictures of any of the accessories. For now, PowerA has only released these teaser images.

PowerA plans to release these Pac-Man accessories in the Spring

This week’s announcement is more of a teaser since PowerA hasn’t officially confirmed any information about launch date or pricing. However, it has said that it will be sharing more information about these accessories come Spring. So that’s likely when it will have a full reveal of all the accessories that the collection includes.

We know for a fact that it includes at least one controller for Xbox and one for the Nintendo Switch. It’s also worth noting that the Xbox controller should be usable on PC as well as on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

There looks to be a Nintendo Switch case as well

The third accessory that PowerA teased with this collection appears to be a Nintendo Switch case. This seemingly comes with a Pac-Man sticker pack, too, allowing owners to customize the outside of the case with stickers of ghosts, and likely Pac-Man and the various power-ups.

Again, there’s no mentioned cost associated with the case. Having said that, PowerA already offers several different Nintendo Switch cases. So the cost is likely to be the same as those. For reference, these range from $15 to $25 at regular price. So, expect the cases to be somewhere around those price points. As for the controllers, it starts around $28 for a Nintendo Switch controller and around $40 for an Xbox controller for the wired versions, respectively, with wireless options sitting at around $70. If you’re interested in these new accessories, you can sign up to be notified by PowerA when they’re available.
