Lexington, NC – March 15, 2025 – Lexington police officers responded to multiple 911
calls for service this morning at 5:30 a.m. regarding two vehicles driving in a
neighborhood off South Main Street including Snider Avenue, Peacock Avenue, Austin
Street, and Stamey Avenue. The 911 callers reported that two cars were driving around
the neighborhood “Ramming” each other and that they also heard gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers located one gunshot victim near a vehicle that had crashed into a house located at 103 Peacock Avenue.
Officers also located a wreck scene in the roadway a short distance away near 114 Snider Avenue. Nobody occupying any residences in the area were injured. The house that was struck by the car was the only
property damage we are currently aware of. Through initial investigation, officers located another involved person at a residence at 256 Ovada Avenue.
As detectives continue to investigate this incident, throughout the day, it has been
determined that it involved two people who were in a domestic relationship together.
Tinisha Nelson Coleman, age 45, and Ronald Eugene Vaughn, age 61, both of
Lexington.
The investigation has indicated that Coleman and Vaughn were in an ongoing domestic
dispute situation while Coleman was driving a white in color 2013 Volkswagen Passat
and Vaughn driving a silver in color 2002 Saturn car. While driving through this
neighborhood there is evidence that both vehicles collided on more than one occasion.
Additionally, while both vehicles were parked in the roadway in the 100 block of
Peacock Avenue, evidence indicates that Coleman shot Vaughn with a handgun one
time in the head. It was at this time Vaughn backed up at a high rate of speed and
crashed into the residence of 103 Peacock Avenue.
A short time after the shooting occurred, Coleman was taken into custody, without
incident, at the house where she resided at 256 Ovada Avenue in Lexington.
Coleman has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury as well as discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
She has been held in the Davidson County Jail with no bond and is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on April 14, 2025.
Vaughn is still currently being treated at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and there are no updates at this time on his medical condition.
