The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 looks set to gatecrash the iPhone 17’s launch with a reveal as early as September.

The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth yarn claiming that Qualcomm apparently wants to pull the trigger early, getting its next-gen silicon into Android gear just in time to shove a stick into the spokes of Job’s Mob’s autumn smugfest.

Digital Chat Station reckons new Android flagships, likely kicking off with the Samsung Galaxy S26, could be using the chip by October 2025.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is being hyped to the eyeballs, is tipped to feature a 5GHz main core and the mysterious “enhanced Pegasus cores.” No one knows what they are, but they sound like they were named during a Red Bull-fuelled branding session.

The chip’s graphics come courtesy of the Adreno 840, and it’s reportedly paired with LPDDR6 RAM, which will be good news for anyone trying to squeeze out more frames from Genshin Impact while pretending it’s not overheating.

Qualcomm has a habit of holding its summits in exotic locations, with last year’s love-in taking place in Hawaii from 21 to 23 October. Shifting that up a month to September would put it in direct competition with the iPhone 17 reveal and let Android phones get a running start.

The Jobs’ Mob has been trying to push more memory across its line-up, but with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 boasting these specs, the fruity cargo cult might find its latest toy looking like yesterday’s leftovers (again).

According to Digital Chat Station, the chip’s performance gains stem from a 25 per cent boost in single-core and 20 per cent in multi-core Geekbench 6 scores, thanks to second-gen Oryon cores and TSMC’s N3P process. The Adreno 840 GPU, clocked at 1.35GHz, also brings a 30 per cent uplift over the previous generation .

With support for LPDDR6 memory and advanced ARMv9 features like SME1 and SVE2, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is not just about raw power—it’s also geared for AI and machine learning tasks. Expect to see this chip powering Android flagships, possibly starting with the Samsung Galaxy S26, as early as October 2025 .
