Quincy Police ask residents to move cars from Snow Emergency Routes as soon as possible – WGEM

QUINCY (WGEM) – As the winter weather starts to roll in, first responders want residents to clear the path for them so streets can be plowed as efficiently as possible.

Residents parked in a ‘Snow Emergency Route’ marked with blue signage are being asked to move their cars from those streets as soon as possible.

These routes need to be cleared in the event of an emergency and so snow plows can move about.

“The sooner they could do that the better,” said Sgt. Craig Russell with the Quincy Police Department. “That way, we’re not fighting the snow and people possibly getting stuck in the road creating issues that we could hopefully prevent.”

Police are also urging people not to travel unless it’s essential. Russell said if you do plan to travel, be sure to have a full tank of gas, a phone and blankets in case you get stuck.
