The great-looking Cadillac Allante, built between 1987 to 1993, is a Caddie that’s particularly loved by car enthusiasts – not least because its styling was down to the genius of Pininfarina.

The Italian design firm known is well known throughout the world for its work with brands like Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati – which has included the Ferrari Testarossa.

Back when it was being produced, the bodywork of the Allante was in fact built in Italy by Pininfarina and then flown to Detroit for assembly.

Built to take on the likes of the Mercedes SL, Jaguar XJS and BMW 6 Series, over 21,000 models were built in its seven-year production run, roughly working out at 3,000 a year.

Today, they’re considered a rare and collectible car – and are tricky for UK enthusiasts to find.

However, Allantes are available for sale in the UK from a number of marketplaces, including AutoTrader.

We were lucky enough to find an example on their website; a model in great condition from 1987 with 80,000 miles on the clock.

The convertible features a 4.1-litre engine and an automatic transmission, and has been described by the listing as “probably the most unique car venture for a car manufacturer ever” – referring to its Pininfarina design.

They added: “Comfortable and exceptionally well equipped car with both hardtop and soft top, wonderful seats from Recaro, but not like you have ever seen Recaro seats before.”

The car is also stated as being “virtually rust free” and it is highlighted that the low mileage is “believed to be genuine based on the overall condition of the car.”

This comes as a car brand that is scarcely remembered and went bankrupt some 70-odd years ago has returned – with a shockingly cool sports car.

Elsewhere, Ford is preparing to release their “most powerful production car ever” with a sport car that can produce a shocking 804bhp.
