LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Some who attended this year’s three-day Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival at Sunset Park say they saw several cars towed from a nearby parking lot on Sunset Road near Eastern.
“Hundreds, hundreds,” said festival attendee Kaitlin Baker. “There were about five different tow trucks, all just boom, boom, boom.”
“It was $536 to get my car back,” she said.
A spokesperson for the festival said the lot is on private property, and these businesses there are not tied to the festival.
Still, attendees who had their cars towed say there were no visible signs to warn them not to park there.
“They have one small sign way over there that nobody can see. Nobody can see it. If you park right there in the middle, you can’t see the sign or anything, so there’s no warning that you can’t park here,” said festival attendee Duron Smith. “Plus, we parked out here for the Renaissance Fair in the past.”
“They have hidden signage that we can’t even see,” said Baker. “We’ve been using this lot for years, we know it’s safe, and now we’ve learned the hard way that it’s not.”
Smith and Baker both had their cars towed while they were at the festival on Friday, and they both showed up the following nights to help others in the same situation.
“People are coming, looking for their cars. They’re thinking it’s stolen. I gave them the rundown of what happened, told them how much, showed them the receipt and everything. And I gave some of them a ride out there,” said Smith.
The festival spokesperson says there was ample parking available at Sunset Park itself and at two nearby schools, with complimentary shuttle service to the park every 15 minutes, and they say all of this was outlined on the event’s app and website.
FOX5 called the tow company as well, who said they have no comment.
We also asked Clark County if they’re aware of this issue, and if they have any plans to help improve parking options of guidance for next year’s festival, but we’re still waiting to hear back.
