Roborock unveils the Saros 10 and 10R during CES

Roborock is gearing up to make waves at CES. The company already took the wraps off of the Saros Z70, a robovac with a robotic arm that can pick up objects. However, it’s not done. Roborock just unveiled the Saros 10 and Saros 10R at CES 2025.

The Saros Z70 is quite the sight. This device has an arm that emerges from the top of the device. It’s able to pick up light objects like socks and shoes. Not only that, but it can transport objects to different locations. Depending on what you have sprawled throughout your living room, it can tidy up for you.

What’s one issue that plagues most robovacs? Many of them are too tall to fit under low-sitting furniture. This is because of the top-mounted puck-shaped LiDAR sensor that they need to detect their surroundings. Without it, they’re not able to navigate their surroundings as effectively.

Well, this is an issue that Roborock has solved with the Saros 10 series. Starting off with the Saros 10, this device uses a completely different method of navigating your home called StarSight. Most other vacs use a method called LDS (Laser Distance Sensors). As the name suggests, it uses lasers to detect where the device is in relation to its surroundings.

Eliminating the LDS system, Roborock was able to shave off the central LiDAR sensor. This brings the height down to just over 8cm. This means that it can clean under much lower furniture.

The Saros 10R uses the older LDS system, and it has a LiDAR puck at the top. However, it can still reach the lower profile, as its sensor is retractable. Once the vacuum sees that it’s approaching some low furniture, it will draw in its sensor.

While it’s under the furniture, it will use an upward-facing ToF sensor and a wide-angle vision module that will help it navigate when the sensor is down.
