The most innovative robot vacuums we’ve ever seen, are now available to buy. That’s the new Roborock Saros 10 and 10R. Both of these robot vacuums were announced at CES last month in Las Vegas. The Saros 10R sports a brand new navigation system, called StarSight Autonomous System 2.0.
Roborock’s Saros 10R robot vacuum is the first in the industry to include a dual-transmitter 3D ToF sensor. This feature provides the vacuum with more sensor points and a significantly higher sampling frequency compared to older robot vacuums. As a result, the Saros 10R achieves precise space mapping, including the ability to determine the height of objects in your home, offering the best mapping capability available among robot vacuums on the market.
Homes with irregular furniture walls will benefit most from this new autonomous system on Saros 10R. This system allows the vacuum to clean better around obstacles than ever before. I’ve been using this model for a couple of weeks now, and can confidently say that I’ve noticed a pretty big difference in its navigation versus previous Roborock vacuums.
StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 is still able to identify all of the usual objects, including shoes, slippers, socks, cables, power strips, pet waste, and much more. Roborock says that thanks to AI machine learning, it can detect up to 108 different obstacles.
The navigation system is now integrated into the body of the vacuum, meaning the top of the vacuum is completely flat now. Paired with the ultra-slimness of the Saros 10R it can go under furniture with ease. The Saros 10R is perfect for homes with multiple floor types, as it can lift the mop around 0.87 inches off the ground. Ensuring that your carpet stays dry.
Roborock’s Saros 10 features an industry-first RetractSense Navigation System
The second robot vacuum that Roborock is putting on sale this week is the Saros 10. Roborock is debuting its VibraRise 4.0 Mopping System on this vacuum. The side mop can now be lifted independently of the main mop on this robot vacuum. The mop’s vibrating area has also increased by 27% making it tougher on stubborn stains. VibraRise 4.0 uses AI algorithms that can automatically identify different stain types and adjust its cleaning mode in real time.
With stubborn stains, VibraRise 4.0 will raise the front wheels of the vacuum, which is able to increase the pressure on the mop, and really scrub the floor of that stain.
Combined with an impressive 22,000Pa suction power, the Saros 10 excels at combatting dirt and dust. However, hair poses a unique challenge. Roborock introduced its Dual Anti-Tangle System on the Saros 10, which features a FlexiArm Riser Side Brush designed with an asymmetrical curve to prevent hair from tangling. Utilizing its centrifugal force, it effectively dislodges hair and directs it to the main brush and into the dustbin. This makes the Saros 10 an excellent choice for pet owners seeking a reliable robot vacuum.
The Saros 10 is a fairly large upgrade from the S8 MaxV Ultra, as it upgrades just about every area of the robot, providing you with the ultimate cleaning experience. One that is going to require less human input than ever before, which is kind of the whole point with robot vacuums.
Roborock Saros 10 vs Saros 10R
Surprisingly, both robot vacuums are the same price. But they do have some rather large differences. The Saros 10R features an all-new navigation system, while the Saros 10 has a retractable navigation system. Allowing both robot vacuums to be ultra-slim. The StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 is a huge upgrade for navigation, as it allows the top of the robot vacuum to be completely flat, while also improving navigation and allowing the robot to see in 3D. This makes the Saros 10R a better option if you have lots of oddly shaped furniture, or walls that aren’t completely straight (think of an attic or a second floor where the walls meet at a point).
When it comes to vacuuming, the suction power on both is about the same. The Saros 10 is slightly more powerful in this regard. However, both use the DuoDivide Brush to eliminate hair tangling. Which has been a big issue with robot vacuums in the past. Finally, the Saros 10R is able to lift its mop up a bit higher, to a height of 0.87 inches. Meanwhile, the Saros 10 can only lift its mop up to 0.71 inches.
The last pretty major difference between the two comes with mopping. The Saros 10R uses two spinning mopping pads, with one of them able to swing outward to better clean the edges of the room and along baseboards. Meanwhile, the Saros 10 has Roborock’s VibraRise 4.0 Mopping System, which allows the robot to lift the mop higher, and it has also increased the mop vibration area by around 27%.
Both robot vacuums are excellent choices. However, I’d say that pet owners might appreciate the extra suction power that the Saros 10 offers. At the same time, those with more laminate, tile, or hardwood floors might appreciate the spinning mops of the Saros 10R, to combat those stubborn stains.
The Saros 10 and Saros 10R are both going to retail for $1,599. However, now through February 16, you can save $200 off of the regular price, getting either robot vacuum for just $1,399.
