WhatsApp seems to plan to integrate Meta AI into its toolkit. After testing a home screen widget earlier this year, the messaging app is now reportedly experimenting with another way to bring AI to users’ fingertips.
This discovery comes from WABetaInfo, which spotted the new feature in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.25.6.14.
The new widget offers three handy shortcuts to access Meta AI: one to jump straight into a chat with Meta AI, another to quickly share a photo, and a third for voice-based interaction. You can also resize the widget to fit your home screen layout.

At the moment, this feature is only available to beta testers using the latest WhatsApp version on Android. But even if you’re in the beta programme, Meta AI’s availability depends on where you live. If you’re based in the UK or US, however, you should be fine.
With this latest move, WhatsApp appears to be pushing Meta AI into the spotlight, likely planning to make it a key part of the messaging experience. As a reminder, Meta (known then as Facebook) bought WhatsApp in 2014, so such a move isn’t that surprising.
Recent reports also suggest that WhatsApp users might soon be able to make video calls directly from Google Messages.
