Russellville business owner uses passion for cars to help the community – WBKO

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) – For Clay Bilyeu, giving back isn’t just something he does—it’s part of who he is.

For years, Clay’s Autobody and Towing owner Bilyeu has used his love for cars, music, and community to support charitable causes. From organizing car shows that raise thousands for medical research to entertaining adults with special needs, Bilyeu finds unique ways to make a difference.

“We hooked up with Cruisin’ for a Cure in 2016, and that’s when we first started raising money for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation),” Bilyeu said. “Then we added Hospice of Southern Kentucky, Alzheimer’s. And last year, we decided on our end to add autism.”

Through car shows and fundraisers, Bilyeu has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for these organizations.

“From the time we started raising money, I’d say it’s averaged about $15,000 a year or more,” he said. “The last two or three years, it’s been like $22,000, $23,000 each year.”

Bilyeu’s passion for helping others extends beyond financial contributions. He regularly volunteers his time and talents, performing music at community events and fundraisers, including benefits for local fire departments.

“We support fundraisers like fire department benefits,” he said. “We’ve got two or three or four already lined up this year where I go and sing to help them raise money.”

His commitment to the special needs community is especially close to his heart. At Russellville’s Active Day Center, Bilyeu entertains participants with live music, bringing joy to those who attend.

“I go out there about every couple of months and sing and play music for them, and they have a ball,” he said. “It’s a good group of people. I love those people.”

Bilyeu will also participate in Adairville Baptist Church’s upcoming “Night to Shine” event, a prom experience sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation for individuals with special needs. He will give guests rides in his custom-built “Kool Bus,” which he has done in past years.

“It’s a big event,” he said. “Last year, we took the Kool Bus, and this year I’m taking it again. They love it.”

For Bilyeu, giving back is about more than just generosity—it’s about gratitude.

“The community has been so good to me,” he said. “How can I not be good to them and give back?”
