Android devices have been able to text each other using RCS for several years now, but when it came to texting iOS devices, they were forced to use SMS because of Apple’s stubbornness. Finally, after years of waiting, Apple finally decided to adopt RCS in iOS, allowing cross-platform messaging to behave like it’s truly 2024. Samsung and Google were two companies pushing heavily for iOS to make the move, and now that it has happened, Samsung is taking the opportunity to further promote the perks.
Samsung Wants You To Fully Understand How Much Better RCS Messaging Is
Let’s throw aside the silly blue bubble-green bubble discourse for a second and simply focus on how for most of our lives as Android users, texting people using iPhones has absolutely sucked. Group chats are messed up, the high-quality images you send end up looking like they were taken on a potato, and you don’t get advanced features like seeing when the other person is typing.
In other parts of the world, most people use other messaging apps like WhatsApp, which provide the exact same messaging experience across platforms, but in the United States, where iPhones are the most popular, iMessage is a prime option for many.
Thankfully, with Apple finally deciding to embrace RCS earlier this year, you’ll be able to chat with Apple devices in a more modern fashion from your Samsung device. Here are some of the perks it brings:

Both Parties Need To Ensure Compatibility With RCS
If you’re going to be texting that person that you’ve been unable to convert to the gospel of Android, you’ll at least be able to chat better thanks to RCS. However, there are certain things that you need to keep in mind for this to work right.
Essentially all Android phones support RCS, but you’re going to need to use Google Messages for your texting to take advantage of it. For the iPhone user on the other end, their device is going to need to be on at least iOS 18. Also, keep in mind that not all carriers around the world support RCS, but if you’re in the US, that shouldn’t be an issue.
Samsung And Google Worked For Years To Pressure Apple To Accept RCS
Now that Apple has finally embraced RCS, it might be pretty easy to forget how stubborn the company was when it came to adopting it in the first place. Samsung has worked with Google for years to make sure that RCS was widely adopted as the new messaging standard.
In fact, it got so bad that Google and Samsung each started making ads pressuring Apple to “get the message” and adopt RCS. Thankfully, it seemed that pressure actually got results.
