Samsung is planning to announce a super-thin smartphone soon. The device in question is called the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, and we got a first glimpse of it during the first Unpacked event of the year. Since then, the phone surfaced quite a few times, not to mention that Samsung actually put it on display during MWC 2025 in Barcelona. It was not available to use, but it was present there.
With that being said, we do have quite a few information about the device at this point. We’ll try to round all that up as we’re coming closer to the actual device launch. In this article, you’ll find plenty of details regarding this smartphone, and more will be added as we come closer to the launch event.
This article will be regularly updated with new information on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (this is a preview article) — both official teasers and credible leaks, rumors, and insider claims — as it becomes available in the run-up to the release of the upcoming Android smartphone. This is the original posting of the article.
When will the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge be released?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is coming in April. A source from Samsung said that the device will launch ‘around April’, while a well-known tipster confirmed April is the launch month. Furthermore, a report from Korea mentioned April 16 as a specific date for the launch event. That report did mention that the device will go on sale in May, though. We’re not sure if that’s a global launch date as well, or not, but we’ll see. Either way, April is the launch month for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Considering that the device was shown both during Unpacked and MWC 2025, we do expect the phone to launch globally.
What models are coming?
At the moment, we do know that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will feature 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Well, at least based on rumors and a Geekbench listing. There’s a chance that a 16GB RAM variant will also launch, but that’s unlikely. Furthermore, a 256GB UFS 4.0 flash storage model was also mentioned. No other storage options surfaced, so we’ll have to wait and see. Chances are that more than one storage model will be on offer, though, knowing Samsung. It will likely differ from market to market as well.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge cost?
The exact price tag of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge did not leak out just yet. However, a well-known tipster did reveal an approximation. He said that the phone will have a similar price tag as the Galaxy S25+. The Galaxy S25+ is, in the US, priced at $999.99. That is the phone’s starting price tag. So, you can expect the Galaxy S25 Edge to cost around $1,000 as well, if not exactly $1,000. Initial rumors claimed it will be priced somewhere between the ‘Plus’ and ‘Ultra’ models, which is still a possibility, but it will be much closer to the Galaxy S25+ in that regard, it seems.
What will the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge look like?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will look a bit different than its Galaxy S25 series siblings, however, it will still use flat sides. Its sides will be flat all around, as will its front and back sides. The phone will be made out of aluminum and ceramic, based on rumors. As expected, it will be notably thinner than its siblings, though. The Galaxy S25 Edge is tipped to measure 5.84mm. That is considerably thinner than the Galaxy S25 at 7.2mm, which is the thinnest Galaxy S25 smartphone at the moment.
You’ll get two cameras on the back
The Galaxy S25 Edge will also feature two cameras on the back. The entire camera module will look different than what the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra have to offer. Two cameras will be vertically-aligned, but they’ll be a part of the same camera module. They will not protrude directly from the phone’s backplate. And yes, that camera module will protrude on the back, while each of the cameras will bring even more of a protrusion. That is to be expected, considering the utter thinness of this phone. Do note that Samsung ditched a model with three rear cameras at the last moment. That variant was thicker and heavier than the one the company opted for, though.
The display bezels will be rather thin
Furthermore, the device will feature physical keys on the right-hand side. Its power/lock key will be placed below the volume up and down buttons. Samsung’s branding will sit at the bottom of the phone’s backplate. What about the front? Well, you’ll get a flat display with thin bezels and a centered display camera hole up top. The phone’s corners will also be quite rounded. It will be very similar to its siblings in that regard, actually, as expected. It is also worth noting that the phone is tipped to weigh 162 grams, which is the exact weight of the Galaxy S25.
What specs will the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge have?
What about its specifications? Well, plenty of details surfaced thus far, so let’s go over what we know at the moment. The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy will fuel the Galaxy S25 Edge. That chip was confirmed via Geekbench, after some earlier rumors suggested the Exynos 2500 will be included instead. That will not happen, as Samsung encountered some issues with its production, so it opted to stick with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy in all of its Galaxy S25 series phones, in all markets.
It will have a 6.7-inch display
The phone will include 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. Well, at least one of its variants will, as that is the only model that we’ve seen thus far. Other storage options are a possibility, but don’t expect storage expansion to be a part of the offering. The exact size of its display will be 6.656 inches, but Samsung will likely advertise it as a 6.7-inch display. That panel will be flat, by the way. The Galaxy S25+ has a 6.7-inch panel, so there you go, the size of the phone will be similar.
A rather small battery will be included
Its battery capacity will not be that high, actually. The battery appeared at a certification listing with a nominal value of 3.786mAh, which Samsung could market as a 3,900mAh battery. So it will be smaller than even the unit the Galaxy S25 offers, that phone comes with a 4,000mAh battery. Those are not great news as the Galaxy S25 Edge will have a considerably larger display (6.7-inch vs 6.2-inch). That’s the price Samsung decided to pay for the thinness of this smartphone. Using a silicon-carbon unit would surely yield different results, but Samsung opted not to go down that route just yet. The phone will support 25W wired charging, by the way.
It may utilize the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s main camera
The Galaxy S25 Edge is also rumored to offer a thinner, but bigger vapor chamber (compared to the Galaxy S25’s offering). Those are good news, as the heat dissipation should be good despite its thinness. What about the cameras? Well, the device is rumored to utilize a 200-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit. That main camera could be identical to the one inside the Galaxy S25 Ultra, a 1/1.4-inch image sensor. The 12-megapixel ultrawide camera will likely be the same as in the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. So, a 1/2.55-inch sensor.
Should you wait to buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is kind of an odd device. It’s extremely thin, yes, but the mainline Galaxy S25 smartphones are also very thin. The sheer impact on the battery capacity this phone will get because of that thinness may make it not worth it for many people. If you do find the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra to be too thick, then sure, this phone could be ideal for you. It will also remain thinner if you slap a case on it. However, for the vast majority of people, other Galaxy S25 smartphones could be a better choice. Either way, this is a somewhat odd choice by Samsung, but some other OEMs seem to be doing it too, so… there you go.
