The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is just around the corner. In January 2025, the company will announce its next-gen mobile flagships alongside One UI 7 stable and possibly two new sizes for the Galaxy Ring. According to leaks, 2025 will also bring a new “Slim” model to the Galaxy S lineup. A new report has revealed the thickness of the Galaxy S25 Slim.
The Galaxy S25 Slim thickness could be under 7mm
The possible launch of the Galaxy S25 Slim seems like a direct response to the alleged iPhone 17 Air, with which Apple could replace the increasingly unpopular Plus models. However, Samsung’s approach to a super-slim smartphone will be very different from Apple’s. The South Korean giant wants to offer a visually attractive device without compromising too many tech specs.
Ice Universe, a reliable leaker focused on Samsung devices, said on Weibo (a Chinese social media site) that the thickness of the Galaxy S25 Slim will be under 7mm. For reference, the current Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are 7.6mm, 7.7mm, and 8.6mm thick, respectively. So, the device could be noticeably thinner than any recent Galaxy S models.
Samsung doesn’t want many compromises in its Slim phone
That said, Samsung’s approach to this device could prevent it from surpassing the iPhone 17 Air in thinness. According to reports, Apple’s smartphone will be a ridiculous 6mm thick. However, the Cupertino giant will have to make some compromises in terms of specs, with the battery and cameras being the most affected. The battery capacity of the device is not known, but the phone is said to have a single 48MP rear camera.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Slim aims to achieve a more balanced ratio between thinness and tech specs. Ice Universe said in November that the phone will have an “Ultra” camera. This suggests that it will inherit at least some sensors and photography capabilities from the Galaxy S25 Ultra. For instance, the 200MP main camera that Samsung uses in its more expensive smartphones could be present.
