Samsung will hold its first Unpacked event of 2025 in January. The long-awaited Galaxy S25 series will take center stage at the conference, but they won’t be the only products we’ll get to see. Recent reports revealed that the firm will offer a first look at its smart glasses co-developed with Google. Now, another source claims that Samsung will also reveal the Galaxy Ring 2 during the Unpacked 2025.
Samsung will reportedly show the Galaxy Ring 2 at the first Unpacked of 2025
The Financial News claims that Samsung will “reveal some information” about the Galaxy Ring 2 in a few weeks. It was to be expected that the company won’t launch the new wearable to the market in January, as the original model only arrived in July 2024. A period of just six months would be too short for a generational leap in the company’s product lineup.
Anyway, the original Galaxy Ring also had an initial reveal in the form of a teaser in January 2024. So, if the report is true, we will see a similar move for the launch of the next-gen model. The company could offer a sneak peek of the Galaxy Ring 2 in January before a proper launch months later.
According to the report, the Galaxy Ring 2 will add sizes 14 (23mm diameter) and 15 (23.8mm diameter) to the current list. This will allow the product to reach a wider range of people. Interestingly, a recent leak revealed that Samsung will release sizes 14 and 15 for the original Galaxy Ring too. So, they should be available for its successor as well. The South Korean giant is including the new sizes to better compete with Oura, a direct rival in the segment.
The Galaxy Ring 2 is said to feature some design improvements, including a slimmer body. The weight of the new sizes 14 and 15 could reach 3.2 grams. The ring could also boast of more accurate physical and health tracking thanks to the implementation of AI and a rearrangement of the sensor structure. Its battery life could reach up to seven days in the larger sizes.
Samsung’s smart glasses to be teased too
The latest report also supports previous leaks that claimed that Samsung will show its AR smart glasses in January 2025. The company could reveal a teaser with images or videos to confirm the design of the product. According to tipsters, Samsung’s smart glasses will weigh about 50 grams and integrate the Gemini assistant for AI queries. Snapdragon hardware aims to power the device.
The arrival of Samsung and other big names could cause a boom in the smart glass segment. According to industry insiders, Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi also want to launch their own alternatives in 2025. Therefore, there could soon be a threat to the Ray-Ban Meta’s market dominance.
