Samsung to reportedly supply OLED displays for next iPad Mini

Summary: Popular Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station (DCS), has claimed that Apple is testing Samsung-made OLED displays for the next iPad Mini. Although the details about the display size and supported refresh rate are scarce, reports from last year have pointed to a display size of around 8 to 8.5 inches.

Multiple rumors surfaced in late 2023 suggested that Apple would release an iPad Mini with an OLED display. We are in 2025, and a renowned Chinese tipster has now claimed that the Cupertino tech giant is testing a new Samsung-made OLED display for its next iPad Mini model.

Samsung will reportedly supply OLED displays for Apple’s 2026 iPad Mini

The news comes via none other than Digital Chat Station, who took to Weibo to post about upcoming tablets from different manufacturers. DCS claims that Apple is testing an OLED display for its next iPad Mini that will reportedly launch in 2026.

DCS further mentions that it’s unclear whether the OLED display supports a higher refresh rate. Per the tipster’s Weibo post, Samsung has made the OLED display in question. If you are unaware of the business ties between Apple and Samsung, you must be surprised by these details.

For the uninitiated, Samsung has been a key part of Apple’s supply chain. The South Korean tech giant provides Apple with different components. If the claims turn out to be true, Samsung could fetch a huge amount by supplying OLED displays to Apple.

Previous rumors about the upcoming iPad

A report from May last year hinted that Samsung started developing 8-inch OLED panel samples for a future iPad Mini. The report also noted that Samsung plans to mass produce those in Cheonan in the second half of 2025.

However, a December report by analyst firm Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) followed up with slightly different details. The report mentioned that instead of an 8-inch display, the upcoming iPad Mini would use an 8.5-inch OLED panel.
