Samsung has now launched its Galaxy Easy Reward programme, where the company wants to buy its users’ old smartphones, Digital Trends reports. Unlike various trade-in programmes for mobile phones, Galaxy Easy Reward does not require the user to buy a new phone.
Samsung may consider buying all phones in the Galaxy S20 series and beyond, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Fold 4, Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Z Flip 4, and Z Flip 5. However, the company is not buying its latest phones Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. It also appears that Samsung may be interested in buying phones from other manufacturers.
According to Samsung vice president Jung Ho-jin, they have launched Galaxy Easy Reward because they expect it will increase the long-term value of Galaxy products and contribute to the circular economy.
The value of a mobile phone will be based on its condition and interested sellers will first receive an estimated value and then a fixed value once the device is returned.
Galaxy Easy Rewards will be available in South Korea on 14 January and will expand to more regions in the future.
