Samsung’s Top A-Series Phone Is Coming; Here’s What It Looks Like

I think most people would agree that Samsung’s A-series is the second-in-command lineup when it comes to its bar phones. It is the place you go if you want some of the good stuff that the company reserves for its S-series flagships but you don’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money.

There was once a time when Samsung released A7x phones, but that family tree came to a close with the A73 in 2022. Now, the A5x phones are the best you can get in the A-series. The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is next in line and now we get to see what it looks like—leaving nothing to the imagination.

The Galaxy A56 5G Might Have the Most Notable Design Change Samsung Has Seen in a While

Think of a modern Samsung phone. Got one? Perfect. You now know what virtually every single Samsung phone released in the last few years looks like. Samsung found a design that worked for it back in 2022 and has basically recycled it for every bar phone that it has released since then. Facelifts have been rare since then, with the minor changes that the Z Fold 6 and S25 Ultra went through being considered revolutionary.

Speaking of designs, we finally have a look at the design of the upcoming Galaxy A56 5G—the king of the A-series—in every colorway, courtesy of Evan Blass. The design change that is on the table now is definitely more notable that rounder corners on the S25 Ultra and straighter edges on the Z Fold 6, but it is hardly groundbreaking, generally speaking.

Regardless, it is a new look for Samsung, and I like that. What we can see is that the device finally sheds the trio of isolated camera lenses in the upper-left corner of the device’s back panel. Yes, there are still three cameras, and yes, they’re still in the upper left, but this time, they are all housed under one darkened window. I definitely love this look, especially as it something fresh.

The flat metallic frame sticks around, with a completely flat glass back panel, a completely flat screen with relatively thin bezels (the chin is a tad larger than the other sides), and a punch-hole selfie camera. We can also see that Samsung maintains the Key Island platform for the power button and volume rocker. The left side of the phone is completely bare. It’ll be available in black, grey, green, and pink.

Galaxy A56 5G Has Another Major Change: Top Charging for the First Time in the A Series

It’s 2025, and most devices in Samsung’s portfolio commemorate that quite nicely—they only support 25W fast wired charging. Samsung does have phones that can charge at 45W, but the number of them that can is absolutely minimal, and they are mostly flagships. Even a device as expensive as the $1,899 Galaxy Z Fold 6 only charges at 25W. It’s also annoying that since 45W charging was introduced in 2019, that’s been its peak.

The Galaxy A56 5G is rumored to change that, and that’s incredibly exciting. It’ll be the first A-series device to come with 45W fast charging, which is a good omen for the rest of Samsung’s A-series going forward. That fast charging will likely be paired with a 5,000mAh+ battery, so that’s pretty sweet.
