Scott Free Developing Thriller Series ‘High Wire’ Based On Candice Fox Novel For Apple TV+ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV+ has landed the rights to High Wire, the thriller novel from international bestselling author Candice Fox, for development as a TV series, sources tell Deadline.

Ridley Scott’s Scott Free is set to produce under their first-look deal with Apple TV+. We hear the project is in early development, with no writers yet attached. Simonne Overend is set to executive produce.

An acclaimed Australian crime novelist, Fox’s High Wire was published last September. Taking readers on a high-octane journey through the Australian outback, the story centers on Harvey Buck, a former soldier racing against time to reach his dying girlfriend. Along the way, he encounters Clare Holland, a traveler stranded after her car breaks down. Offering her a ride, Harvey unwittingly plunges them both into a nightmare. They are ambushed by a vengeful crew and forced into bomb vests, compelled to commit a series of increasingly dangerous missions under threat of detonation.

Fox is the author of nine solo novels, three of which have won Australia’s prestigious Ned Kelly Award. She also frequently collaborates with James Patterson, and every one of their seven novels together have been New York Times bestsellers. Previously, her Crimson Lake series was adapted into Troppo, a series for ABC Television, starring Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun.

Scott Free recently produced Scott’s Gladiator II, which grossed over $461 million worldwide, as well as Alien: Romulus and the Apple series Prime Target starring Leo Woodall. Currently prepping Scott’s post-apocalyptic novel adaptation The Dog Stars, to star Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin and Guy Pearce, the company’s upcoming slate also includes Apple projects like Echo Valley and Dope Thief, as well as the series Alien: Earth and Blade Runner 2099.

Fox is repped by Left Bank Literary and Independent Artist Group.
