OpenAI just released SearchGPT to all the users who joined the waitlist, as mentioned in our previous report. After a long month’s wait, ChatGPT finally connects to the internet. This comes at the right time to save the Internet, when Google’s recent search algorithm (HCU update) killed all the small publishers and filled it with Reddit and Quora crap. You can start using the SearchGPT right now. Here’s how to force enable it if you can’t find the “Web Search” icon in ChatGPT.
ChatGPT’s new search functionality represents a significant shift from traditional search engines. Instead of users having to sift through multiple search results and piece together information, ChatGPT now offers a more streamlined approach. The system intuitively decides when to search the web based on user queries, while also allowing manual searches through a dedicated web search icon.
While AI search engines are not new, as it comes from Open AI — the biggest AI company with hundreds of millions of users — has the potential to change the dynamics of how we use the internet. The best part is it does not come with any Ads, unlike Google’s AI Overview. Google is just stealing content from publishers with AIO and pocketing ad revenue by implementing ads.
So despite the fact ChatGPT does not explicitly show the Web Search icon, OpenAI will intelligently switch between regular chat or web search based on user intention. So for tasks like weather report, Stock market data, Sports, Stock market data, etc. it will automatically switch to web search.
The announcement comes after OpenAI published a blogpost introducing SearchGPT to everyone starting today. If you want to force enable web search feature, there are a couple of ways to do so.
In the blogpost, OpenAI also showcases how the SearchGPT will work and how the interface will be. Here is a video of SearchGPT in action. Before you go, sign up for the service from below for quick approval. Also read the Best Free Alternatives to ChatGPT.
