Seven-seater cars have many benefits, we have found the top seven currently available in the UK.

The best seven-seater cars boast space, but they’re also practical everyday drivers suitable for city or country roads.

Advances in engine technology mean that the large and powerful engines in seven-seaters can be surprisingly economical, too.

In our round-up of the best used seven-seater cars in 2025, the experts at Sun Motors provide details on a range of vehicles, from luxury motors like the Land Rover Discovery Sport to affordable runarounds like the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer.

We’ll take the stress out of finding a used seven-seater.

The seven best used seven-seater cars

Here is our pick of the best used seven-seater cars for sale today:

  1. Land Rover Discovery Sport
  2. Volvo Xc90
  3. Land Rover Discovery
  4. Skoda Kodiaq
  5. Audi Q7
  6. Peugeot 5008
  7. Vauxhall Zafira Tourer

1. Land Rover Discovery Sport

This Land Rover Discovery Sport is one of many seven-seaters available on Sun Motors.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is a compact, capable and versatile SUV.

You’ll get everything you expect from a luxury car, including fantastic performance, a plush interior and a whole lot of added extras.

OK, so the third row of seats is a little cramped, say Which?, but you’ll look good whenever you arrive.

They recommend buying the D200 diesel engine with Dynamic SE trim, and we agree.

Owners have reported problems with older vehicles, so search for one with a complete service history.

Drivers have reported issues with the timing chain as well, so be sure to ask questions about whether this has been replaced. when picking up a used model.

In our view, it’s the most stylish seven-seater out there (with a price to match).

2. Volvo Xc90

volvo-sun-motors

10

This “family favourite” Land Rover Discovery Sport is one of many seven-seaters available on Sun Motors.

The Volvo XC90 has been in production since 2002, providing comfortable seating for up to seven sizeable Scandinavians.

The robust and attractive SUV is a family favourite, partially because of its size and safety credentials.

The car is packed with passenger protection features and is built with high-strength materials to keep everyone safe.

You’ll get a respectable 30mpg (for its size and weight). Estimated annual servicing costs of £400-700 are less than the Land Rover. It’s ideal for adventurous families who want a go anywhere, do anything vehicle.

3. Land Rover Discovery

10

Known for its “monster boot space” the Land Rover Discovery can be found on Sun Motors from £365 per month.

Don’t want the extra speed and style elements of the Sport? The Land Rover Discovery is a slightly cheaper alternative that looks almost as cool at the curbside.

The size impressed the team at Whatcar? who were able to fit seven people inside easily enough.

The seats fold down to create a monster boot space, providing greater flexibility.

Used values are strong with the Land Rover Discovery, so shop around for a good deal.

We reckon the Land Rover Discovery is suitable for those who want a highly capable on- and off-roader but don’t want the added cost and cache of owning the Sport version.

4. Skoda Kodiaq

10

The Skoda Kodiaq comes in as a suitable city SUV option, with models currently available on Sun Motors.

Billed by Skoda as the ultimate large car, it’s a good description.

The Kodiaq doesn’t have the size and ride height of either of the Land Rovers or Volvo, but that makes it easier to manoeuvre and park in the city. Insurance costs are lower, too.

The Skoda Kodiaq is a popular used car, with values holding up well, says CarGurus.

The 1.5l engine is OK, but we recommend the larger and more powerful 2.0 TSI SE.

This petrol-powered Kodiaq comes with a reliable 4×4 drivetrain and DSG transmission, easily clocking up many thousands of miles.

Reviewers love it, and so do we. It’s a more family-friendly, budget 4×4 that comes with the benefits of buying from one of the world’s biggest car brands. It’s a no-fuss MPV for those drivers who prize functionality over fun.

5. Audi Q7

10

The Audi Q7 is impressively reliable a well as boasting precision steering

Here’s another SUV from the VW family, the Audi Q7. The Audi Q7 looks sharp and comes with bulletproof build quality and impressive reliability that you would expect from an expensive SUV.

The high-up driving position provides confidence and the precision steering and powerful engine deliver control.

Experts recommend the 55 TFSI petrol engine as the right balance between performance and costs at the pump. (If you didn’t know, TFSI stands for turbocharged fuel injection system.)

It’ll eat up motorway miles, with you and six others seated in complete comfort.

Price-wise, it sits wonderfully well between the Skoda and the Discovery Sport.

You’ll see more in the city than in the country, though, which should tell you something.

6. Peugeot 5008

peugeot-discovery-sun-motors

10

The Peugeot 5008 offers a smooth ride and can be found for £211 per month on Sun Motors.

Known more for its smaller city cars, the Peugeot 5008 is a fine family car.

The recent facelift means 2024 models (and beyond) are angular and aggressive, but we prefer the more traditional (and affordable) pre-2024 models, where you can choose from a 128bhp 1.2-litre engine or a 163bhp 1.6-litre engine.

In-car noise is low, handling is good and the ride is smooth – especially on long motorway journeys.

The 5008 has sold thousands, which means there are some great used car bargains out there.

The Peugeot 5008 is an unassuming car that’s capable of delivering you and your extended family anywhere.

It’s worth paying for the Allure model, as you get some great features, including sat-nav, a rear-view camera, 18-inch alloy wheels and privacy glass.

7. Vauxhall Zafira Tourer

vauxhall-zafira-sun-motors

10

Although the production of the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer has ceased, the model remains a reliable budget seven-seater.

The last Vauxhall Zafira Tourer rolled off the production line in 2018, but you’ll still see them on the roads.

For less than £10,000, you can pick up a low-mileage 2018 model, which should provide years of faithful service.

The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer is a genuine seven-seater with decent legroom. It’s a great choice for budget buyers who want an affordable runaround that’s easy to drive and park and cheap to insure.

In our view, the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer is the best budget seven-seater car for sale.

The Touran is a great booking family car, with oodles of room. Add on to that VW’s reputation for reliability and (relatively) low running costs, and you’re on to a winner.

This 2019 VW Touran 1.6 TDI SE comes with its sturdy diesel engine delivering an incredible 65 miles per gallon. That’s Bristol to London for less than £15 of fuel.

Check out this 2019 VW Touran 1.6 TDI SE on Sun Motors. Don’t be put off by the mileage.

If the engines are serviced and maintained, you can easily get 200,000 miles or more from them.

2020 Ford Galaxy 2.0 Titanium

ford-sun-motors

10

It nearly made it to the list above, but the Ford Galaxy is a great family MPV that will gladly gobble up the motorway miles.

The EcoBlue diesel engine on this 2020 Ford Galaxy 2.0 Titanium from Sun Motors will do 43mpg, with the automatic box taking the stress out of shifting.

This four-year-old, low-mileage model is as good to look at as it is to drive and would prove to be a fantastic family car.

Even better, the AA-approved dealer will have checked the car to ensure there’s nothing nasty or naughty lurking inside, so you can drive away with confidence.
