Smartphone Safety Tips: Smartphones are an essential part of our daily lives, but lending your phone to someone while travelling can sometimes lead to serious risks. It’s crucial to be cautious before handing over your device, as it can expose you to hacking or data breaches. Whether you’re giving your phone to a friend, family member, or a stranger, here are three important things to do first.
1. Check for Unwanted Apps: Before sharing your phone, enter a secret code to check for any apps that might have been installed without your knowledge. Simply open the dial pad and dial ##4636#. This will show a list of apps being used, along with their usage times and dates, helping you spot any unfamiliar apps.
2. Monitor Call Forwarding: To ensure no one has forwarded your calls to another number, dial #61#. This will display details about any call forwarding settings. If it’s enabled without your permission, you can quickly disable it by dialling ##002#, which will stop all call forwarding on your phone.
By following these steps, you can protect your phone and your private data from unauthorised access.
