Snapdragon X series is coming to $600 Copilot+ PCs

Qualcomm is one of many companies making announcements as part of CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The company has just announced that the Snapdragon X series will “continue to redefine the PC category with a new platform”, in other words, the company’s chips are coming to $600-range Copilot+ PCs.

Snapdragon X series chips are coming to $600 Copilot+ PCs from various OEMs

This is the fourth platform to join the Snapdragon X Series compute portfolio. Qualcomm is aiming to take the lead to Copilot+ PCs in the $600 range, in other words, mini desktop form factors are Qualcomm’s goal here.

Qualcomm says that this new platform delivers up to 163% faster performance at ISO-power than Qualcomm’s competitors who also require 168% more power at ISO-performance.

The company made sure to emphasize that the Snapdragon X processor balances performance and built-in intelligence with a 45 TOPS NPU that runs Copilot+ PC experiences.

Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon X is “an ideal solution for students, freelance workers, and budget-conscious consumers who need a reliable and powerful laptop that can keep up with their busy lives”.

The very first devices will become available soon, in early 2025

As part of its announcement, Qualcomm also said that the devices in question will become available in early 2025 from Dell, Lenovo, and other companies. They’re expected to cost around $600, as already mentioned.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X chips are making strides thanks to their power efficiency despite the considerable performance that they’re able to output. Snapdragon X series laptops are already out in the market, and it will be interesting to see how much interest will these $600 PCs manage to attract. We’re hoping to see these devices in other markets too, outside of the US. Qualcomm did not share any information regarding that thus far, however.
