Sony’s DualSense Edge controller and a few other accessories are getting new colors with the company’s announcement of the Midnight Black collection. In the midst of all its CES 2025 announcements, Sony took to its official PlayStation blog to announce the Midnight Black colors for the DualSense Edge controller, the Pulse Explore earbuds, the Pulse Elite headset, and the PlayStation Portal. All of these accessories are only currently available in White with the exception of the Limited Edition 30th Anniversary models, most of which are impossible to get at this point.
But PlayStation fans have been waiting for some if not all of these accessories to be available in Midnight Black. While the white color is very nice, owners of the original PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro seem to be partial to the black color scheme. At least, that’s true for some of us. Sony already offers accessories in Midnight Black including the regular DualSense and the PS5 console covers. So it only makes sense for it to launch these accessories in Midnight Black as well.
The Midnight Black DualSense Edge and all other accessories launch in February
If you’re looking to get your hands on these, the wait won’t be long. Sony has said that the new Midnight Black collection will officially launch in February. That being said, pre-orders for all of them begin on January 16. That means you’ll be able to secure your items as early as next Thursday. Pre-orders will be up at PlayStation Direct but Sony confirms authorized retailers will also have stock of these accessories.
However, it clarifies that availability will vary by region and that not all regions will have stock outside of PlayStation Direct. In terms of pricing, prices are all the same as the white versions. That means you’re looking at $199.99 for the DualSense Edge, PlayStation Portal, and Pulse Explore earbuds and $149.99 for the Pulse Elite headset.
Also worth noting if you weren’t already aware, is that the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds are both wireless. The exact launch date for all of these products is February 20.
Will Sony release these accessories in any other fun colors?
It’s entirely possible. Sony released dozens of different colors and designs for the PlayStation Vita back in the day. So other colors of even the PlayStation Portal don’t seem too outlandish. The company already offers several colors of the regular DualSense controller, too. So more colors of the DualSense Edge seem plausible. The only accessories it’s never really released other colors for are its PlayStation audio products. Though, in this day and age anything seems fair game.
That being said, Sony has not said anything about this. It would be nice to have the options, but for now, Midnight Black seems to be the only new option here if you don’t like the standard white.
