Sony just launched its latest Linkbuds and they're not alone

Along with its over-the-ear headphones, Sony also makes some compelling TWS earbuds. We recently got word that Sony was going to launch the sequel to its odd-looking Linkbuds. Well, the wait is over, as Sony finally launched the new Linkbuds Open, Link Buds Fit, and LinkBuds speaker.

Sony launched the new Linkbuds Open

What made the original Linkbuds stand out was their unique shape. Their bodies almost resembled the number “8” with two circular parts. The most notable thing about the design is that ring-shaped earpiece. It’s designed to give the listener an open-back experience when listening to music.

While these earbuds were made fun of, they were generally liked among the audio community. Now, Sony is back with two new pairs of earbuds. The first pair are the Linkbuds Open. As the name suggests, these are the next iteration of the open-back earbuds. They have the ring-shaped earpiece that we saw with the first pair; however, the shape is a little different this time around.

The opening in the earpiece is a little smaller than last generation’s. Overall, the shape is a little closer to a traditional pair of earbuds, and that is good news for the fit. Along with that, these new earbuds have tips that extend from the body.

These earbuds have a set of 11mm drivers that make for great sound. Sony says that they can give you clearer high tones and richer bass. What makes these earbuds better is that they use the same Integrated Processor V2 which is found in the WF-1000XM5.

If you’re interested in getting these earbuds, the Linkbuds Open cost $199.99.

Next are the Linkbuds Fit and Speaker

The Linkbuds Fit are much more traditional than the Open variant. They have standard ear tips with a pretty sleek-looking body. They’re designed to fit your ear much better than other earbuds on the market.

They also use the same chip that’s present in the Linkbuds Open. This chip enables some impressive ANC, which is always welcomed. These are IPX4, so you won’t have to worry about the rain or sweat ruining them. You should expect up to 5.5 hours of playback time on these earbuds.

You can pick these earbuds up for $199.99, just like the Linkbuds Open.

Both versions of earbuds come in black and white, while the Linkbuds also come in green. There’s also a special Olivia Rodrigo purple shade.

Speaker

Along with the earbuds, Sony also unveiled a new speaker. The new Linkbuds Speaker is a pretty small but powerful speaker. Just like with the Linkbuds Fit, they’re IPX4 water-resistant, so you shouldn’t have to worry about the occasional splash. They can last you up to 25 hours on a single charge, so they’ll last a couple of days for casual users.

What makes this speaker stand out is the Auto Switch feature. It will be able to quickly switch the audio from the speaker to your Sony earbuds. Not only that, but you’re also able to quickly hand the audio off to a pair of Sony WF-1000XM5.

If you’re looking to pick up this speaker, it will set you back $180.
