Spotify down: Thousands blocked from playing music on iPhone and Android

No, don’t worry – it’s not just you. Spotify really is down right now. According to users of the hugely popular music service things currently aren’t working with thousands unable to access their playlists, albums, podcasts or most-played songs.

The tune-blocking gremlins appear to have begun at around 5pm and are still ongoing. There’s no word on what’s causing the issues but it appears to be a major problem.

Independent website DownDetector, which tracks “when services go down or have outages”, is now reporting a huge spike in the number of people complaining about Spotify not working properly. In fact, there are now over 2,500 reports which means this is a massive hiccup.

Plenty of Spotify users have also rushed to social media to vent their anger. One user named Cori said: “Spotify being down is my last straw.”

Music fan Samuel added: “Spotify down was not on my Sundays list, how can one simply cook without music.”

And Principal posted a message saying: “Spotify has gone down during my walk and I am once again forced to listen to nature.”

Spotify has posted a update on X (formerly Twitter) with the music service saying, “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!”

Express.co.uk will keep you updated on the latest Spotify news and when things are back up and running.
