Springfield airport in Missouri houses 25 eerily abandoned cars dating back years – Supercar Blondie

Multiple abandoned cars are sitting at an airport in Springfield, Missouri, left by their owners for years.

Some of these cars have been sitting there for three to four years.

It seems like roughly 25 vehicles have made the Springfield-Branson National Airport their home.

What’s more, the airport authorities are not in a rush to take them out of there.

Missouri airport houses 25 abandoned cars

Here at Supercar Blondie, we have seen quite a lot of abandoned cars in various places.

But an airport is definitely a first for us, too.

According to Kent Boyd of the Springfield-Branson National Airport, they have been aware of these cars for a while.

They have even run tags on them to find out who they belong to.

One particular car had been there for so many years that they even found an obituary of the owner.

“We were able to trace back, and we found an obituary for the registered owner,” said Boyd.

“We contacted the estate and asked if they can please come get this car and they still haven’t,” he added.

To be fair, they might have had other things on their mind, by the sounds of it.

Long term parking

Although airport parking is supposed to be long-term, this just takes it to another level.

The airport caught wind of these cars when they tried to paint the parking lot, not so long ago.

While we have seen airports with abandoned planes, it’s the first time we have seen cars in perfectly good condition being abandoned at such a place.

“At some point, we’ll tow them. I don’t know what that timeline is,” Boyd explained.

“You don’t want to tow them or get them off the property too early because you know sure as heck as soon as you do that, somebody will show up looking for it,” he added.
