T-Mobile may be charging people for "free" lines

Summary: T-Mobile has been charging people for lines that should be free. Along with that, some people report that their promos take up to two billing cycles to take effect.

One of the most popular deals that carriers offer is the “Free line” deal. It incentivizes people to add more phone lines to their plans, and they seem to work. T-Mobile has been offering some pretty tempting promotions that see users gaining a free line each month. This should be a breath of fresh air, as the company has been on a price-hiking spree lately.

Well, you might want to hold off on getting that free line until T-Mobile gets its act together. There’s an issue with the carrier that is leaving some people paying for free lines.

T-Mobile is charging some people for their free lines

T-Mobile has been running some enticing promotions recently. One of them offered eligible customers a free line if they clicked on a banner in the app. Another one gave users a free line if they’d been a T-Mobile customer for over 10 years. Both of them grant users a free line on their plan.

They sound pretty nice, but there seems to be an issue with some people’s bills. One user who signed up to get a free line was charged for it. Since T-Mobile is no longer the cheaper alternative to Verizon and AT&T, its lines are rather pricey. The customer was met with a $70.85 bill. Not only that, but they were charged an additional $26.84 for a mid-cycle change. This added up to $97.71.

Another issue that people are experiencing seems to be pulling the rug from under their feet. These people will get the offer for the free line but be told that they’re not eligible when they try to enroll. What makes this worse is that people found this out after getting the new line, so they wound up paying for the line. They were, thankfully, able to get a refund after canceling the line.

One thing that someone pointed out was that these promotions could take up to two billing cycles to start working. This could be happening to people who are getting charged.
