Google has now officially announced the Pixel 9a and T-Mobile really wants to get one into your hands. It wants you to have a Pixel 9a so much, that it’s willing to give you a free one. Of course, nothing in this life is really ever free. There’s always a catch-22. A caveat. That doesn’t mean it’s always a bad caveat. It just means that there’s something T-Mobile wants from the customer before giving a phone out to them at technically no charge for the hardware.
In this case, T-Mobile is running its Get A Phone on Us promotion for the Pixel 9a. All you have to do to get the phone is add a new line to your account, or trade in an old phone (on most plans, the carrier says). When doing either of those things, T-Mobile will basically hand you a Google Pixel 9a in your choice of color. This will be the 128GB model which retails for $499. So if you want the 256GB model you’ll have to opt to pay for that one.
T-Mobile will credit your Google Pixel 9a on your bill
As you may have suspected, T-Mobile’s offer for a Pixel 9a comes down to bill credits. If you meet the above-mentioned requirements, then T-Mobile will basically end up buying you the phone. As with other promotions like this one, you still have to technically pay for the Google Pixel 9a. T-Mobile will then credit you back for the phone over a 24-month period, by way of adding a credit to each monthly bill over that time.
While this isn’t free in the traditional sense, you do end up getting the money back that you spent. Even if it’s not all at once. Plus, T-Mobile has one other promotion for customers who pick up the Pixel 9a.

If you’ve made up your mind to buy a Pixel 9a through T-Mobile you’ll want to do it online as opposed to in the store. You might ask yourself why that is. The answer is simple. T-Mobile will give you a pair of the Pixel Buds A-Series if you do. This promotion also applies to those who buy the phone in the T-Life app. Google will officially begin selling the Pixel 9a in April, so T-Mobile should have it at the same time.
